Our tour guide Kenny was wonderful, and we absolutely loved the actual airboat tour ride with our captain Tommy. However, the overall experience was not worth it. If given the choice again, I would have found my own transport to an airboat tour for 1/3 or 1/2 the price and just done that.
75% of the tour is spent riding on a bus. The bus was overfilled with too many people for comfort, and on a hot day, the bus AC could not keep up. We were the second group to arrive; however, we were the second to last to be let onto the bus, and the seat choices were extremely uncomfortable for such a long trip.
The animal sanctuary was actually depressing, and I regretted every minute of it. It took five minutes to walk through and see "everything" (gators, otters, and a lion), and despite applying bug spray head-to-toe, the mosquitos were the worst I've ever seen in my life (I with 30+ bug bites). The alligator "show" was an actual joke. It was like Joe Dirt in real life, and it lasted a total of two minutes. I at least expected to see someone feed or care for any of the animals at any point.
The airboat tour was a lot of fun, but we had to wait a while for our tour group's turn because it was through a separate business. The actual ride was only 30-40 minutes long maybe an hour if I'm being generous.
Afterward, our tour guide took us to a lunch spot, which was delicious and worth the stop. I really appreciated it and was in favor of it; however, this added additional time and expense to an already long trip. Then we took a two-minute drive through the town, but at that point, I was so uncomfortable from the heat of the crammed bus and the bug bites that I just wanted to go home but we had about an hours drive to go back to the...
Read moreVery bad value. I would not recommend it at all unless you are alone. Very disappointed. Staff was very nice and very friendly.
Problem is that the 4.5h activity is a 1 hour, 1h30 max activities (boat and visit of the place). Rest is transportation. It is not specifically mentioned.
The major issue is the price. Kids from 12yo are considered adults. No family or group price. For 4 (2 adults and 1 kid and 1 13yo considered adult) the price is too high. Way too high. For the price, I was expecting at least a 2.5h activity. The very least. And a longer boat ride. It was around 30/45min.
Worse was that when you see the price at the place. You realize that its all very cheap. Most of the price paid is for transportation at a premium tariff. Not worth it. Far from a luxury bus. No food.
Don’t get fooled by all the 5 stars on their website. They are from the Boat place. At the right price, I would had put 5 stars. Everglades Excursions is providing a way overpriced transportation for a cheap activity...
Read moreVery good way to get exposed to the everglades, its history, and its wildlife. Our host and narrator, Kenny, was extremely accommodating, informative, and down to earth. The airboat ride was a thrill unlike any overpriced theme park can offer. The operator clearly aimed to please. For our boatride, our captain was no different. He circled a large bay until we found manatees and dolphins. Took a little while (which gave us some time to take in the amazing view) but what a show! Nothing short of absolutely majestic. Levi and "Charlie" at the sanctuary put on a nice show for the family. The restaurant and museum were a real treat. Food was very good as was the atmosphere. Lots of things to see and experience. For those with a passion for the everglades or just an interest, this tour is a must! Skip out on the lines at the overpriced theme parks and give the family quality packed memories that will...
