The Cafe — Restaurant in Naples

Pleasant environment. Food is delicious. I have eaten here any number of times and have always enjoyed it, the staff being so pleasant. Unfortunately, this time as I walked in at exactly 8 AM as shown on their wall clock, an older women who was very involved with her cell phone growled something at me that I could not understand. I walked over to her and asked her what she said. In a thick Spanish accent she said something like I had arrived too early, which of course didn’t make sense according to their clock and they’re opening time of 8 AM. No one greeted me pleasantly; no one said good morning. Another guest and myself chatted about the rather abrupt and nasty start to our morning. Finally I just took a table and waited. A disinterested waitress took my order. The coffee was served, The breakfast was served. No one came back at any point to check if I needed anything or if I was enjoying the meal. Like most things Naples, people and food are what really make this city a terrible place to spend your time and your money. Especially now, with how high inflation is. Hands down, the staff is what makes this place great. If I just hung out with the staff and didn't have to pay, this place would be 5 stars. However, I got the pleasure to deal with plastic surgery barbie and all the other customers that were beyond rude. On top of that, what is the deal with the portions? If I am going to be spending over $50 for two people, I better feel like I shouldn't have to eat for the rest of the day. Second visit. First was 4 yrs ago just before Covid-19. We finally returned because the house salad was so impressive. Especially the way the chicken was prepared sous vide. The portion was huge. I was so glad to see that it survived. But, alas in true post covid form my husband ordered it, the portion was smaller and the price went up considerably. That is why only 4 stars. It still tasted great. This time I ordered the mahi mahi taco's. I would have paid a litte extra for more fish in it. The taco shell was only half full.
