This place is called playdate, has a huge slide in the back, and it located in a very family focused neighborhood. We were there with our friends who also have children and the kids were very well behaved while there and were using the slide just like all the other kids that were there we’re doing. I would say 75% of the clientele that was there on a Sunday afternoon were families. However when we were there, the GM told us that it is not a kid friendly place and they are not encouraging families to go there. We could not believe what we were hearing. And he told us he encouraged us to come back without our kids for a date night. Like for real? You legit are telling us that families aren’t welcome in your restaurant that has a slide in the backyard in 12 south? Where it’s majority single-family homes and not apartments with young 20-year-olds? It just felt so odd and rude and I really hope they reevaluate how they’re going about welcoming people from the neighborhood to their business. If they want it to be for 21+ then they need to set an age requirement. I’ve never in my life heard of a restaurant saying not to bring kids - unless it was like a five star tasting menu restaurant. The place is even called playdate! They should call it Sunday Funday if they want to send a message that it’s not...

Update: I reached out to the email they asked to give them a chance (not a fan of going back to a place that made me sick, but they are new so things happen). Well Daria Grattan believes getting sick from their food is me “not liking our chicken”. When I pointed out it wasn’t about not liking it but rather getting sick from their chicken she decided she had done enough lip service and stopped responding. Don’t give this place your money they are another brand wanting to move into a hot city but doesn’t care about their customers, food safety, or the community. The only fun about this place is found in the name, beware of this establishment.

WARNING! Do your body a favor and don’t eat the chicken wings. Idk if it’s the chicken they use or the lack of cooking, but rubbery and gross. The last one I picked up to consider trying to eat looked more like a baked potato skin than chicken. Obviously frozen junk with low quality. I got home from the restaurant sick and it lasted into the next day. As one to normally finish an order of chicken wings I got maybe half way or a wing over and just let the rest be...

I read about this recently and checked it out with some friends on the weekend. It was packed, and understandably so. Aside from the nice weather the space is very inviting, with outdoor seating in front and back, with an outdoor bar in back. I'll come back often.

We only ordered the whipped feta and shrimp skewers, but both were very good, very fresh, perfectly seasoned. The kitchen is doing things right. Drinks were also tasty and well made. Reasonably priced as well, $13 for all cocktails.

The only ding on the experience is that it seemed like the wait staff were inexperienced or still figuring things out. There seemed to be a lot of confusion. Several times we saw staff that didn't know what table a food item was to go to, and we were asked more than once what we had ordered or had the wrong items brought to our table.

But overall, this is an excellent addition to the 12 South neighborhood and well worth checking out. I found it to be a very relaxing, neighborly spot. Great for a sunny afternoon with friends. And...

First of all, the vibes here are great. Beautiful spot with a lot of promise. I know they recently opened and are likely still working out the kinks… but there are definitely kinks. Let’s start with the positives… Cocktail options were great, fresh, and nicely priced. The naan + feta appetizer was a winner! Room for improvement: 1) the chicken wings were chewy, though the sauce was good 2) the ratios are off on the poke bowl and it needs some soy sauce or anything at all for the rice itself 3) *my most important point* … the receipt. Truthfully it makes no sense. The subtotal is actually the full total including tax… and then they add a checkout fee (did we have any option other than to check out 🤔) and then some other mysterious tax… which appears to be the tax on them charging you to check out. Very interesting but not appreciated Again, love the vibes and would be willing to try again… lot of promise here!

We were in town for a football game and met up with our son afterward at Playdate Funbar — what a cool spot! The place was decked out perfectly for Halloween, with festive decorations and a fun themed food and cocktail menu to match. I ordered the Boo BLT, fries, and a margarita, plus the pepperoni monster rolls as a starter. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing, but I have to say — the fries were the star of the show. Whatever seasoning they use is absolutely delicious! The atmosphere was lively, playful, and just plain fun. And yes — the slide is as awesome as it looks! Whether you’re local or just passing through, I definitely recommend adding Playdate Funbar to your list of must-visit spots.

While they are still working out some kinks it seems with having enough servers, our server Lindsey still did a great job! We didn’t know it was trivia night, and it added to the vibe of our evening. You’ll have to pay to park or find street parking. Location is great in 12S! One issue we had was small children were allowed to stay after 8PM, and they were screaming going down the slide which was mildly annoying at times. (The menu says no small children allowed after 8PM). Prices are good for the food, but the drinks could probably be better for the price. All in all a great experience and we will be back!
