My boyfriend and I were in Nashville for 2 days over the weekend for his birthday. We decided to spend our last night in East Nashville. The bar that piqued my interest here was Hubba Hubba so we made that our first stop after dinner. Love the 80's/90's theme! There's a little rock n' roll, a little honky tonk. Love that they serve tiki drinks! It's colorful and a little bit of everything! The names of the drinks were also really fun! It's reminiscent of the Young Joni speakeasy menu if you've been to Minneapolis.
The bartender was kind of suspicious when I asked her for their prettiest, and tastiest drink. I get it. I bartended for 7 years. I probably would've laughed if someone asked me that, but I've gotta do it for the 'gram! When you travel to a different place every week you learn to ask the questions up-front so that you don't waste yours or the bartender's time. I always look for a little bit of guidance. The people who know their product best are the employees! The bartender, Patience, warmed up to us when she found out we were there for a short visit and wanted to see what they were known for. Little did we know, they're new! The bartender gave us the whole history of the place as well as informed us of future plans. We are excited to come back and see how the place changes!
We also met the owner, Dave, who is super friendly and gave us tips on where to go next. We got the Tiki La Rue to share since we were planning on going to quite a few bars Sunday night. The cocktail was delicious and I thought the amount of ice was adequate. It was served in a boot. Super cute! It was honestly the perfect amount between my boyfriend and I. It set us up for a great rest of the night in...
Read morethis does not even deserve a one star. bathrooms were disgusting underage drinking. not welcoming to others outside of the community click. the truth to what really happened on Saturday night, a group of friends, decided to go to a karaoke bar, after a friends birthday party to grab a night cap. We picked a local karaoke bar we had never been to, without knowing we would not be welcomed when we came to just have fun and karaoke and mind our own business. The regulars knew they could act like the way they did, so they did. We were harassed from the moment we walked in. Assault and theft. Yes, we were dressed in our patriotic attire (which is our constitutional right), within 5 minutes of being there, a young lady came around and started knocking hats off of men and women in our group, which is an assault. Immediately, the bouncer and bartender were at her defense and we were asked to leave. We were trying to find our lost items, that were knocked off of our heads and a reason for this assault. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, however, this kind of behavior is not necessary, there...
Read moreI tried the new bar, Hubba Hubba Tiki Tonk. It's located next door to No Quarter. I'm not fully sure how I feel about it yet. The decor is cool in that it's really 80s and a blast to the past. It's a divey-feel, which I enjoyed. It's not Dino's type divey, but it's definitely its own vibe.
As far as the drinks we experienced, we were a bit underwhelmed. The names of the drinks are fun, but you're paying $14+ for a drink with a LOT of ice. I would have liked it to have more of the drink and less of the ice that watered it down quickly.
The bartender was cool. He gave me a birthday shot and was really hospitable with the guests he served. His personality shined through as he conversed with his patrons.
Being brand new, I understand that it will take time to come into its own. I look forward to seeing how that goes and do...
