Based on a post from fellow foodie I decided to check out Slim & Husky’s in Antioch. Now I arrive at the location adjacent to the old Hickory Hollow Mall at 7:15 pm and while parking see a long line out the door. I’m intrigued but also starving and waiting in line was not really an option I relished. I met one of the folks working there and she explained to me how the system worked so I go sit in my air conditioned truck and work on my online order. I get the online order done (I will be downloading the app) and go to the “other door” to wait for my order. This place is pretty cool…they have two separate kitchens. The main one visible to the public is normally for folks dining in and then there is a kitchen in the back that takes care of the “to go” and online orders. They have a nice selection of craft beers but there’s not a ton of seating available here. My pizza took about 20 minutes and while waiting I saw those cinnamon rolls and made a note to get an order of those next time. I went home, popped the top on a beer and dug in. I ordered the Classic Red Sauce, S+H House Cheese Blend and Fresh Mozzarella along with mushrooms and onions. Now aesthetically the pizza looked OK, notice a lot of the cheese and toppings kinda moved away from the outer edges of the crust. Looks aside…this is a dang good pizza and the crust is very well done and crispy. The flavor of the sauce did not overpower the pizza and the toppings were a good add-on.
Only downside…didn’t know Tuesday was $2 off the larger Husky pizza ($10) and I ordered the smaller Slim Pizza and it cost me $12. It’s not very obvious on the web site but then again I may not have paid enough attention…but I’ll know better next time. The folks working here are pleasant but they have a process and they are trying to get your order out to you quickly, hot,...
Read moreLast night (4/16/21) I order a Husky Roni pizza online for pickup at 8:12. I received a text at 8:57 my pizza was ready to be picked up. I got there at exactly 9. As I pulled up my daughter got out and was walking to the main door and was stopped by a security guard advising her that pick up orders are to go to the side door. She went to the door for it to be locked. She knocked three times before anyone came to the door. When she was finally let in they need to see my confirmation email to give her the pizza. I understood that but again she was locked out this time she had to knock for a steady 5 minutes before anyone came. Fast forward and it's 9:22 and she finally is coming out with this pizza. I asked her why it took so long only for her to tell me that they said the pizza was still in the oven. Okay well we head to the house which was mt. View area only to get in front of the house and the pizza is ice cold!! So basically they gave my daughter the run around and we sat there waiting and apparently my pizza too for 22 minutes. I returned back to the same locked door which it took 3 people to walk by my knocking to finally open the door. I immediately asked to speak to the manager to which he responded you are speaking to one. I explained I just left here with the pizza that I was made to wait for an additional 22 minutes after receiving confirmation my pizza was done only for it to be ice cold. His response was I can make another or refund your money. I declined the pizza because it's 10 to 10 and I am ready to be home for the night. But let me say this if my daughter wasn't ignored and received true customer service it would have never been an issue. I personally will not be visiting this location again...
Read moreThis was not an enjoyable experience: The music is SO LOUD that you have to yell to talk to the members of your party Due to the noise level, the employees have to SCREAM out your name when your pizza is ready, so this means while you're trying to enjoy your meal, a random persons name will be SHRIEKED across the restaurant every 3-4 minutes, so loud that it was jarring Their credit card system was absurd. If I just chose the standard tip options I'm sure it would be fine, but I made the mistake of hitting "Custom tip" on the iPad they use for credit cards, and it was the most confusing software where you couldn't push buttons without pushing other options, to the point where the employee had to admit she had no idea how to work the system either I didn't realize you couldn't order a beer at the checkout, so I had to go order separately at the bar and pay $6.50 for a beer in a plastic cup There was no instruction as to what to do once you order. So after my order was placed, I just went and sat down until my name was shrieked across the restaurant, at which point I walked to the side of the checkout and said "Yeah that's me" and the lady said "where's your receipt" and I said ".... I don't have it? I think I threw it away?", "I need to see your receipt to give you your pizza", "Nobody told me to keep it, but that's my name and that's the pizza I ordered"
The pizza was pretty good. But we ate it fast because we wanted to get out of there so we could hear again and not keep startling every time someones name was called.
In short the pizza is pretty good, but I'm not at all interested...
