Went into restaurant with 5 adults and 4 kids, waited 5 minutes to be seated.. A very nice woman seated us and took our drink order , in the middle of her getting the drink order I looked up and saw an angry looking woman staring at us, I asked our waitress why and what was the ladies problem was, and was told she didnt know. We all wanted the pancake special not realizing that it's breakfast only. Our waitress mentioned when we sat down that she was new to the job it is her second day. her trainer had taken a break and left her on her own. the woman who was angry also come up to our table after our waitress had left to place our order to also let us know that she was new. The manager came back with our waitress to tell us that they didn't serve pancakes except breakfast. So I told her that it was no problem if you'll get our drinks and we'll all decide what we're going to eat and when you bring our drinks we'll order. Which we did. Another of our group noticed about 15 ,20 minutes later that the angry woman was pointing her finger at the new waitress and talking down to her. I looked up and saw that our order was just being put in. I waved our waitress over and told her we would need her to cancel the order because we needed to be done and gone and at this point we wouldn't have time . I asked for the drink check, our waitress was really trying and I really felt bad for her because the manager had let her trainer leave and the angry waitress was also not helpful. While our waitress went to talk to the cooks the hateful looking waitress started talking about how she had wanted our table The Other Woman was new it was her only second day on the job. Said she'd been a waitress to 40 years and we would have already had our food if she had had our table. It was everything I could do not to tell her that had she helped the new employee , things would have went a lot smoother. I am going back over there tomorrow and speaking to a manager don't think it'll help but if they don't keep trainers with their employees they're going to always have issues. And waitresses should not be allowed just talk so badly about a new...
Read moreThe food here is great and if you have an hour to kill before you’re going to actually want that food then you should stop on by. I have given this place a chance 4 different times, going on the weekend, mid-week, and even at 2am. I have used both the drive thru and gone inside and the wait has been absolutely unreal every time. The first time, we ended up seating ourselves. There were 5 other tables that had customers, and they all seemed to have food. We had a man tell us he would get us a table and then looked around as if he had no idea where to seat us. He said he would be right back and 3-4 minutes later we saw him working the grill! Another woman told us she’d be right with us and disappeared into the back. We never saw her again. By that time my 4 year old was getting restless and trying to get into things so we made the decision to simply sit down. It took us flagging down a manager nearly 10 minutes later for us to finally get our food ordered and another 15 minutes to actually get the food. The food was hot, unexpected due to the wait, and very good. I ended up refilling our drinks because no one came to check on us. We had to go to the cashier to get our check and we told the manager about our wait. He seemed uncaring, said “sorry” and walked away. Twice more the experience was the same so I didn’t go back for a couple of months. The other night I was craving a shake and burger and where else am I going to get one after getting off work at midnight? This time I went through the drive thru on a Thursday night. I waited so long 4 cars that came behind me left. I placed my order, knowing exactly what I wanted since I had plenty of time to look over the menu. I waited another 2-3 minutes after placing the order for the person taking said order to confirm what I needed. Once I got to the window my food was delivered fairly quickly, which makes me wonder what took so long to begin with. Bottom line, if you’ve got some time and really craving a good Steak N Shake burger, go here. If not, find a different Steak N Shake, or try Burger King...
Read moreHave gone to this location many times over the past 15+ years. Recently is one of, if not possibly the, worst times to go. I've seen that store run with half the crew they currently have on the clock at any given point in the day, with more customers, all the way up to a packed house, and not have any genuinely disappointed customers. It's steadily been declining since. I can count on one hand the number of employees there that I wouldn't fire on the spot if they worked at one of my previous managements for their sheer lack of 'customer service'. And I feel genuinely sorry for the District Manager constantly having to visit them.
This last visit is absolutely my final one though. 5 minute wait to be seated (I've had worse). Server was promt-ish on getting to me, but had to ask multiple times how I wanted my burger dressed ('plain' shouldn't be that hard to remember), didn't put my fries in for the seasoned ones I'd asked for, and didn't check to make sure my order was actually correct before serving it to me. I ask for a tripple, and get only 2 patties of meat. This falls on both the server for not noticing, and the line/maker between the cook and the serving window for not catching and correcting. I then sat for 20+ minutes with my burger open-faced, having been getting ready to put ketchup on it and then noticed the lack of a 3rd piece of meat, while servers continued to walk by as if a hungry customer not touching their food was a completely normal and OK...
