before entering the restaurant you have to figure out where to park. I think the correct lot is the one next to it that costs 3 dollars, but that could be wrong as all of the lots seem to be very building specific. when you enter, the menus will be stashed by the door. grab one and decide what you want before getting to the register. the menu is a bit misleading compared to a brief Google search. we had picked this restaurant based on vegetarian options but actually their tomato soup has ham stock in it and in general the meatless options are selective. I haven't really found an official drink or shake menu, but they have glass bottled sodas tea and lemonade. be careful ordering shakes if vegetarian- some have bacon. the lemonade had mint in it which sounded exciting but was weird and didn't pair with the meal well. the loaded tots are very underwhelming both in order size and in what they are. they are just basic cafeteria style log tots. the sandwiches are particularly yummy, but you will pay for that. if you have two people grabbing a basic lunch of grilled cheese sandwiches- expect about a 30 dollar bill by the time you pay drinks and tips. I also want to mention that the seating is particularly uncomfortable which is just a little unusual as the menu is clearly based around a nostalgic childhood memory. I would expect oversized bean bags to scatter the space, but it's more of a modern cafeteria type feel. I guess that too plays into the nostalgia if the grilled cheese of your childhood came from schools hot lunch. I will admit that was a favorite menu day of mine as a child as well. the staff is friendly enough but absolutely expects you to know what's going on. I feel like I missed an introductory video walking in or something. if the prices were just a bit lower I'd bump up my rating a bit, and if they could get a couple more vegetarian choices I'd completely forgive the lack of parking or awkward seating. unfortunately, it is what it is. Because some of the complaints do have nothing to do with the food, I would absolutely dine again on the right occasion, despite my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame because of the hype, left meh... this is our opinion and I saw plenty of rave reviews so there are definitely different opinions out there. We ordered the cheesy tots, and three sandwiches, the buffo chicken, the pimento, and the B&B. First the tots.... we got about 12 tots. Total disappointed in the size. Flavor was good but not to die for. The buffalo chicken grilled cheese was also good. We liked the sauce and the pickled flavor. It was good, but again, not meeting the hype. Decent size on the bread, but not nearly enough cheese. Maybe more chicken and pickles too would be nice. The pimento mac and cheese was more meh than good. The noodles of the mac and cheese were small, the sauce (cheese portion of mac and cheese) was better and it came together nicely with the other ingredients. The B&B was okay. Good use of different flavors (was the jam apple?) And really nice pieces of bacon. More cheese wouldve been nice though. They did a great job on timing the grilling portion if the sandwich as they all had a good crunch to them. The prices were far too high for these though. It felt like we could easily make these sandwiches with little practice and for the prices requested and the food we ate, I would say 5 dollars would be more of a fair price for these sandwiches. But, the workers there were friendly. Food: 3.5 Price: 1 Workers and atmosphere: 4
Maybe we went there with too high expectations, but from reading the majority of reviews, we really got our hopes up a little too high. If someone goes there with the expectation of decent food with fair portions, but doesn't want to make it themselves and that one is paying the premium prices for things outside the food, then this is a decent choice. For us though, we would like to see larger portions for the price of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I visited The Grilled Cheeserie after a day of touring Nashville. We arrived about 4:30 before the place got busy. We ordered our food at a counter at the rear of the restaurant. A menu board behind the counter clearly outlines the restaurant's offerings. We both decided on the B&B of Tennessee. It's a sandwich made on multigrain bread with white cheddar cheese, thick cut crispy bacon, and caramelized apple shallot jam. The sweetness of the jam plays nicely with the salty, savory bacon, and the bread had great taste and texture. Add the gooey deliciousness of the cheese, and the result was an outstanding grilled cheese sandwich!
Along with my sandwich I ordered old fashioned tomato soup. The soup was creamy and full-flavored. It wasn't overly sweet, but tasted natural and homemade. My wife ordered homemade chips and French onion dip. The chips are crunchy and are good all by themselves, but the French onion dip complimented the chips well. As for beverages, my wife got lemonade with strawberry preserves, which she really enjoyed, and I ordered an unsweetened iced tea. The tea was clear, crisp, and refreshing.
The staff at The Grilled Cheeserie were friendly and professional, the restaurant was squeaky clean (including the restroom), the atmosphere was inviting, and the food was delicious. The Grilled Cheeserie serves upscale comfort food at its best, and we're glad...
