It was nice to see two kiosks where you could choose to order from or order in person. One of the kiosks was not attached to the square so you were unable to pay. We had to reenter our whole order on the other kiosk in order to pay.
The food was served quite quickly as they have a separate prep area for kiosk orders vs ordering in front of the food bar in person.
Birria Burrito Regular: The taste of the meat itself was good but it did not really reflect what I expect birria to taste like. It was tender juicy meat but not very flavorful. The taste was overpowered by pickled onions and so many bell peppers. It was also not wrapped correctly with the ends opened and all the filling to the side. I attempted to push the ends closed to eat but I would have had to unwrap and rewrap the entire thing. This resulted in an eating experience where the filling was all falling out and the sour cream was all over the bottom of the wrap from how it was originally wrapped.
Carnitas Regular Burrito: This felt more like a veggie burrito with meat than a carnitas burrito. Again this burrito was stuffed with pickled onion and peppers but barely had any meat. The meat itself did not have much flavor. This burrito was also wrapped incorrectly with the ends opened and filling outside of the side seam. Had to edit because my tortilla was literally sopping wet on the outside. Still not sure what that was.
Overall the burritos were annoying to eat as the fillings spilled everywhere.
Birria Taco: This one was a little misleading as the photo showed the taco coming with consume but it does not. Overall the taco shell was pretty good but again the meat was not that flavorful. You get probably a tablespoon / tablespoon and a half of meat in the taco.
The guac was brown on the top when you open the lid. I guess you know it is fresh since it browns but i don't expect to get browned guac when paying around $3 for a small cup.
I am not sure that I would come back after this experience but if you do make sure to order in person as the workers seemed more experienced with making the items and wrapping the burritos. Portions and ratios of ingredients seemed better for those who ordered in person in front of...
Read moreWas impressively uncomfortable, and the food was not the level of a chipotle or other Mexican fast food place.
I was there for maybe an hour and a half, and this older man in a blue shirt was micromanaging everything. I ordered a quesadilla and intended to talk to the person in front of me but he kept adding comments. He also kept walking from behind the counter to tables to talk to people and back behind the counter. I like to move to a side and be out of the way while I wait but he kept walking by and making comments like “it’ll just be a moment,” and “you know you can add vegetables?” And “these things over here are an extra charge, just so you know.” It was honeslty overwhelming and uncomfortable.
I can’t even count how many times he paced the restaurant and peered over at me and other tables. I was on a zoom call so I was hoping to mute, order, and sit, but I kept having to engage when he’d pace past again. Really too much.
Then when I finished my food, came out of the bathroom (unmuted mg zoom call again), he was there. “So everything good?” I just said “on a zoom call.”
But honeslty it wasn’t good. They put a tiny bit of cheese on a tortilla and melt it (so no gooey cheesey insides. Just a smattering against the tortilla). Then you can get meat or beans, rice, and salsa. I said I wanted chicken, onions, and peppers, with salsa. I was charged $3 extra for the veggies: no guacamole, that was extra, and no noticeable cheese (cheese ON your toppings is also extra).
I won’t be back.
It was clear that the man pacing was well intentioned, but that kind of micromanaging is hell to work under and it is super uncomfortable for the customer. Let the employees do their jobs. Let people eat. ONE touchpoint is fine. Don’t hover.
Picture for proof: notice you can’t even see cheese in there, and you could...
Read moreAs a longtime customer of Anna’s Taqueria—over the past 20 years I’ve visited nearly every location, including Porter Square, Davis Square, Brookline, Copley Place, and Newton Highlands—I’ve come to appreciate the consistency and quality that loyal patrons know and expect.
Unfortunately, the Framingham branch falls far short of those standards. During my recent visit, the food and service were markedly disappointing.
The Chili Verde arrived as a single, dense lump of pork.
The grilled chicken appeared to be stewing in liquid rather than freshly prepared. Its GRILLED chicken not SOUP chicken!
Overall, the flavors were bland and uninspired.
The experience was compounded by sluggish service and long waits, which only underscored the lack of care and attention that define Anna’s at its best.
If I were the franchise owner, I would seriously consider pausing operations at this location until the team can restore the quality and consistency that have made Anna’s a Boston-area favorite.
For customers in the MetroWest area, I recommend making the short drive to Newton Highlands, where the food and service remain true to the Anna’s standard. Unless significant improvements are made quickly, I fear this branch may not remain...
