The Container Store — Local services in Natick

Astonishingly bad customer service.

We've spent a ton of money at this store over the years. Recently we moved to Boston so started ordering online for delivery instead.

Not surprisingly some of the rather delicate plastic drawers arrived broken and a sweater box came delivered with a giant hole in it.

We figured no problem, these guys are customer oriented and will just replace them.

My wife took the broken units (we bought dozens) to the store for an exchange and at first, they refused to take them back. After making a scene and talking to the manager they agreed to an exchange only to inform her that they were out of stock.

After so much aggravation and frustration, we simply accepted a refund instead and will find somewhere else to buy from. What on earth kind of strategy is this place taking? They charge 2-3x what you can get similar items for and then treat their customers this way.

The Container Store has lost their focus on the customer which made this a great company. They changed the Elfa closet system to make a new one that is not compatible with the old one. When we moved, I left the basics of my closets at the old house and brought all of the (expensive) components to install in my new house. I expected to spend a couple hundred dollars on the parts I needed but now find out that it will be nearly $5,000 to replicate what I have that is in perfect condition. Lots of people in my same situation have been complaining because the Container Store could have just kept supplying the old top rails so people would be able to move their systems but chose not to. I won’t give them any more money to start from scratch again. No wonder they had to file...
