Today was the annual Mardi Gras parade in Nevada City and we decided to have brunch in downtown prior to the event. We were looking at Lukas yesterday but decided to come today because our reservation at the National was erroneous as they were closed today likely due to the Mardi Gras celebration. Lika's is located of the main Street of downtown so it is a bit more quiet. It has indoor and outdoor seating. The beautiful weather made the outdoor much more attractive so this is where we sat. When we arrived we were not greeted or seated and had to ask how it works. They handed us a couple menus and told us to sit anywhere we wanted. Service here was really slow. I mean... Really slow. Over 10 minutes to get water, another 15 to have our order taken, and then a half hour to get the food to the point where I saw others who came after us receive their food before ours arrived. When I saw this I got up to ask where our food was and saw them bringing it out so said nothing. My wife ordered the breakfast croissant which came with potatoes and I got the 3 egg omelette. Also came with potatoes. People, the food is good. Overall comment here is that the breakfast croissant is so oily, my wife had to eat it fork and knife style. The potatoes are like mashed potato balls and come with it's own special mayo dip. The omelette was good but omelettes almost everywhere are very similar and this is no different. Nothing special to make it stand out from other well made omelettes. In the end, the atmosphere is really chill and nice. When we were served and waited on they were very friendly and polite. But this place is sssslooooww. Even when I went to pay the cashier was so relaxed. Our eating neighbor asked us if we liked the food to which we said yes and she said she has lived there for years and is obsessed with the food but you come knowing you will need to be patient. Try it but do it when you have no plans or a lot of time to be chill.

It's possibly one of my new favorite places in Nevada City. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted with a big smile. The waitress was very nice, and everyone we interacted with while sitting inside was superb. I had the French Shepherd's Pie and a Tequila Sunrise. My husband had a burger and beer. Both dinner items were delectable. The best part of our time at Lika's was the music outside on the patio, where we indulged in scrumptious flourless chocolate dessert while watching the band play. It was a lovely surprise and a great treat.

Great little place for breakfast or lunch in Nevada City. We were the only ones there when we went (towards closing) and everyone was so nice! The owner got us all set up with a bottle of wine and gave the table the soup of the day to try (potato leak). You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Cute garden outside but they also have tables inside. We had the burger (delicious) and fries (the aioli was amazing). Would definitely come back and try another dish.

I never understood when someone would say, "If I had a choice of no stars then that's what I would leave". I went to dinner here this pass Friday evening, well tried at least. as we walked in their was a sign that said order here at the counter. Went to the counter and we were instructed to grab the menus and go and have a seat and someone would take our orders. We sat their for 15 minutes. The employees came and gone by us quite a few times. No acknowledgement. No someone will be with you in a moment. Nothing. So I thought well maybe I misunderstood about ordering. Se we went back up to the counter and said that we would like to order. The owner looked at us and said to go back to our table and someone would take our order. Still same thing. The employees were coming and going. In fact next to our table several times. Still nothing. Like we were invisible. I get it and understand when businesses are under staff and how we should be understanding, but with that same note at least give us some acknowledgement. So after sitting their another 10 minutes besides the 15, we left. I don't even think they even realized we had gone. This was not ok. We will...

Terrible Service. The waiters were extremely rude. Waited to get a table while there were 5 available. The waiter said that they were not ready to seat more people because others have not received their meal yet. However, a logical process would be to seat everyone if you have the available space. I'm sorry you cannot cook fast enough-that is your problem. It takes time for people to pick what they want off a menu. To top that off, we were not allowed to see a menu until we were seated. Quite ridiculous. The food was severely undercooked and overly salted. I had to ask for new Silverware because mine still had FOOD on it. Unsanitary! This is a valued place among some people...I was extremely disappointed. It was basically like a chain-time food. Very Average. I would definitely recommend going to other places to eat near by. To top it off, we didn't know they do not accept credit cards. Instead of the waiter or someone who worked there say where we could find an ATM, she just said we "need to find cash quick". Yeah? I would recommend to this "restaurant" to alert people of this issue prior to seating. I really did not want to leave any...
