If we could leve 0 stars just for tonight, we would. I'd like to warn now, if either of us gets sick, we will be taking legal action.
The manager on duty, Josh, wasn't communicating with customers nor the team he was working with. Instead, he was constantly in the back with the only female teammate on staff. Both of them were openly flirting and not very helpful to the rest of their team. He spent almost all of his time either in the back with this young woman or hanging out behind the line. He also seemed more occupied with his own agenda instead of helping the growing line of people at the register and pick up area.
Many of the team members on duty weren't following proper health codes. This is especially true for the food prep area which was piled with old food. There were several people who didn't change gloves upon entering and exiting the back area. Almost all of them didn't wash their hands nor did they change their gloves. There was everything from hat touching to door touching. A few of them also would leave the area while customers still needed to be served and then return without washing their hands and touching the food. The suspected new team member was seen taking a cookie from the cloche before his break without any gloves.
One of the team members had friends hanging out in the bathrooms whom they served seemingly whenever they asked. They were in the way of other customers who had been waiting for their food for what was honestly, way too long.
There were only two team members who were not only within health code behavior but helpful and engaging with customers. I sincerely wish I was able to get their names because they were the only reason we didn't leave. They seemed swamped as though they were the only two staying on take and concerned with the customers.
The dining room wasn't clean. No tables had been wiped down. There was a pile of ice at the drink machine. The sanitary towel nearby the drink station was left out of its designated bucket and stayed there even after we left. The trash was piled so high it was impossible to get anything in there and many of us customers had to set things in the sides and stack boxes in strange ways. There was also water all over the floor near the soda machine which is also a danger and hazard.
We've been coming to this location for a while and have NEVER had this experience. Normally, the staff is friendly and does their best to keep things clean and the lines moving along. We know this isn't Blaze Pizza's standard and as fellow food & beverage workers and management, we had to point out how utterly disappointed and terrible this experience was.
The most disappointing part was Josh the manager. He seemed to simply not want to work, he didn't wash his hands but once while we were there and seconds after he did, he used his hands to wipe his face and then serve a customer without gloves.
This was truly something we've never seen here and we do hope management will take care that these kinds of health code violations are dealt with properly before someone gets...
Read moreI tried Blaze Pizza on Dean Martin Dr. for the first time last night. Call me biased, but there is no comparison between the "everything on it" pizza from Costco at $10.00 and the equivalent pizza from Blaze at $20.00. The Costco pizza is at least 30% larger in size. It has a better crust, more toppings, and it tastes waaay better. But, and this is a very big "but," Costco no longer offers their "everything on it" pizza, so my comparison may not be relevant if Costco never brings that pizza back. As an alternative to the Costco pizza, the Blaze, I guess, will have to do since the other close (Mountains Edge Blue Diamond) pizza places aren't that great.
I was disappointed in how Blaze handled their social distancing (see pictures) and especially the enforcement of customers that wear [or don't wear] masks. There was a guy right behind me in line that wouldn't wear a mask and didn't take my hint that he was too close to me. I tried to get a Blaze employee to get this guy to put on a mask, but they just ignored me. When I got to the end of the line to pay and mentioned the matter to the manager, she said it was too difficult to tell people to wear their masks because they either didn't listen or got upset. I take her comments to mean she didn't care that this guy was jeopardizing her and her eight employees, not to mention my health.
Pizza at any cost, flavor, and size is one thing, but not caring for your employees and customers is quite another. I can live with the $20.00 pizza; I may not be able to live with the lack of pandemic enforcement at the risk of everyone's health and safety. Unless there is a sudden change in how this Blaze Pizza deals with customers not wearing masks and social distancing, I won't be able to return here no matter how good (or mediocre) the pizza is.
AT A GLANCE REVIEW: RECOMMENDED: So-So SERVICE: So-So PRICE: $$ COVID: Does not follow pandemic guidelines. PARKING: Ample. Convenient. Safe. INTENT/RESULT: To buy a pizza. The pizza was okay,...
Read moreThis is the first Blaze establishment I’ve been to where the staff were not organized, or had some sort of sense of urgency, topping station was very dirty. Some people were waiting 20 min for a pizza. Many people were upset waiting for their food items.. and when asked how much longer the staff said 20more minutes.. I’ve been to many Blaze restaurants and they are always very clean and pizza is out within 10 min. I ordered 2 pizzas for my kids and I waited to pay and no cashier was present I waited about 32 minutes for my pizzas to be ready the staff that were making the pizzas then boxed up my pizzas and handed to me to be on my way, but I had to inform them I hadn’t paid for the pizzas yet, and I’ve been waiting to be cashed but no cashier present and no one approached me to ask if I needed something as I was standing by the register for 20 minutes. they were oblivious to the fact that I hadn’t been paid, they proceeded to call the cashier over he was chatting with the girls from the topping station and he proceeded to cash me out, I asked can I get a discount for being honest and not walking out with two pizzas, no response from him no smile he was very cold and no sense of customer service skills, this establishment definitely needs some more training. I paid for the pizzas and left if my kiddos weren’t so hungry and it’s their favorite place for pizza I would have left. Definitely not a great experience at...
