Read moreWe ate at Juniors when it first came to Resorts World Las Vegas and it wasn't NY but it was an acceptable meal.
Yesterday, we had the two worst experiences in a single day. During breakfast, two dishes were ordered and one needed to be sent back. It was just that bad.
We returned for dinner with a third person who hadn't eaten all day. The service was terrible. Our order was taken by the server and food delivered by another person. Our salads, soups, and entrees all being delivered at the same time after us sitting there unattended for almost a half hour. The soups were Luke warm at best and the sandwich dried out as if it had been sitting under a warmer after the meat had been sliced a half hour early.
Half the sandwich was eaten because that member of our party hadn't eaten all day. A to go container was requested and the sandwich deconstructed to keep the bread fresh, it shows how dry and fatty the corned beef was.
Pointed out to the server and was told a manager would come over. Ten minutes later, it was the sandwich was taken off the bill. No apologies, no manager coming over to investigate why we were disappointed, no would you like something else, no refills on drinks.
As a former restauranteur, I didn't find front of house to be overly busy but cant speak to back of house. It did seem there was certainly enough staff with servers and assistants in the front and if they were short, that's when the manager does need to step up.
If there was a shortage of help, then the proper thing would be some transparency or shutting down the door or admitting guests incrementally until whichever is causing the backlog is caught up.
The fact that it was a food problem during two different meals says a lot.
They do carve the Prime Riv at the table and that member of our party did enjoy his meal although he can be a strange bird when it comes to his tastes. Everyone at the table could be like that's the worst meal in my life and he loved it and in other restaurants where everyone raved about their meal, he didn't like any of it. He's definitely not the norm.
I miss the days of the Carnegie at Mirage and Stage at MGM. Granted, delis are falling out of favor. The population that frequented delis are dying off and it just doesn't have the draw it had back in the 80s and 90s.
This Juniors location has a lot to make up for but it would be a hard sell to get me to return after back to back breakdowns in both food and service in...
Read moreJust a standard Danny's breakfast dive. Except Danny's is better.
Junior’s Dive Restaurant, located inside the Resorts World Hilton in Las Vegas, left me with mixed feelings after my recent visit. While the setting promised convenience for a quick breakfast before starting the day, the overall experience fell short of the high standards typically associated with Las Vegas dining and service.
The breakfast selection itself was ordinary at best......fruits, eggs, nuts, and granola. While functional, it felt no different than what you could find at a basic diner or hotel buffet, but at a much higher price point. The food reminded me more of a Denny’s breakfast than a resort-level dining option. It served its purpose of filling our stomachs, but nothing about the flavors, presentation, or quality stood out.
Where I felt the most let down was the service. I tend to enjoy pampered service, especially in Las Vegas where hospitality is usually a highlight. Unfortunately, the waitstaff here did not embody that level of care we like to see at a Hilton or in Las Vegas. Coffee refills were never offered, and we had to flag someone down repeatedly just to get basics like napkins and ketchup. There was no proactive check-in from our server, which made the meal feel transactional rather than welcoming.
The one bright spot of the experience was Claudia, the hostess. She was genuinely warm, friendly, and attentive, setting the tone for what I hoped would be an enjoyable meal. Her demeanor stood out and was the highlight of the visit.
In the end, Junio’s Dive Restaurant is fine if you’re just looking for a quick bite or something to tide you over, but it’s not the place to expect an indulgent, memorable breakfast. For the prices charged, I would have hoped for better food and far more...
