January 6, 2019: Addendum to original review
Attempted to order supper from our local McDonald's franchise this evening, but you'd have thought we were attempting to launch a rocket into orbit due to the difficulties in doing so.
We first drove to the closest* McDonald's to our home, which is located in James City. {Here I feel it would behoove me to state the obvious fact that someone, anyone should open a McDonald's franchise on the Bridgeton side of the Neuse River Bridge. Providing the place was well managed and operated it would take over all of the traffic traveling Hwy 17S through Bridgeton - travelers looking for McDonald's, or local traffic heading to McDonald's - all of the Bridgeton/Fairfield Harbour/Askins traffic and all of the Hwy 55W traffic, both tourist and local, headed towards McDonald's for food. That's A LOT of traffic.} but, I digress. We're speaking of this evening and our experience. The McDonalds in James City is where we went, butt not at all where we finally ended up. We ordered the bacon, ranch, grilled-chicken salads, only to be told that they aren't offered at this particular, full-service McDonald's location. So, we purchased everything else in our McDonald's order list and drove ACROSS TOWN to three only truly, for sure RELIABLE McDonald's in this town that we know of; the McDonald's on Red Robin Lane, which coincidentally just underwent massive renovations and updating to bring it squarely into the 21st Century (now that we're almost 2 decades into it that is). We simply wanted to order and leave with 3 grilled chicken, bacon ranch salads; however, at THIS location we were informed that they only had enough grilled chicken to put together one salad, not three. Correct me if I'm wrong, but part of the reason that its begun to take so unbelievably long at "fast food" restaurants that offer chicken on their menus is because they now must cook the chicken at the time that its ordered. That being the case, how could they NOT have chicken for salads? I mean, it's not suppose to be already cooked, so the excuse that they didn't have enough grilled chicken for 3 salads doesn't fly, because there shouldn't have been ANY grilled chicken for salads until we ordered salads. If there were to be chicken already grilled for salads that would have gone against the new regulations set forth by the fast food industry, according to our understanding of said regulations. Now, maybe they misspoke. Maybe what they meant was that they didn't have enough chicken to grill for our salads. The thing is though that they had enough breaded chicken for the salads. So, they wanted to know if we wanted one grilled and two breaded chicken breasts for the salads. ????? Well, I suppose we do, but we're wondering WHY no one in the whole restaurant was capable of grilling chicken for the two chicken-lacking salads; which is exactly what should've been happening anyway.
To summarize: Went to closest McDonalds, ordered salads, they don't carry/offer those there. WENt to second McDonalds, ordered same salads, they didn't have enough grilled chicken to fill the order, even though the chicken is suppose to be grilled/cooked to order AT THE TIME OF THE ORDER.
Getting supper, which should've taken 20/30 minutes took over an hour.
My rating of Red Robin goes from 4 stars to 3, my rating of James City - which was at a "0" already, due to the fact that they have food poisoning to myself and my two youngest children when they were still in diapers and pull ups - has gone to a NEGATIVE! Red Robin Lane McDonalds ~ ☆☆☆ James City McDonalds ~ -☆☆☆ (-3☆'s) Its fine as far as McDonald's & as far as fast food in general goes. Its not Michelin Star, or Silver Spoon rated for...
Read moreWaited in the take out line for over 20 minutes after I placed my order. Another 10 minutes getting to the drive through window to pick up my food after the line finally started to move. The very nice young lady at the window asked if I could park in the take out parking spot because they had just started cooking the hash browns that I ordered. I knew this was going to happen because anytime you order hash browns after the normal breakfast time, you have to wait. Sat in the take out parking for over 10 minutes and watched 5 other vehicles get served that parked after me get their food. I went inside and asked how long does it take to cook hash browns. Again, an nice young lady responded and said about 2 minutes. I replied that I had been waiting for over 10 minutes and that I thought that I had been forgotten. At this point, Amanda, came over and asked what the problem was. Being frustrated at this point, I explained that I had been in the take out line and the take out parking for over 45 minutes and was now waiting on hash browns that someone seemed to have forgotten about. I also explained that now my other food that was given to me at the window was getting cold. Amanda promptly went to her cash register and came back with a refund for the has browns. I said I don't want you money I just want my dam food. She immediately started speaking very loudly about how I should not "cuss" at her. I said I'm sorry but all I want is my food. She went on and on about how she was having a bad day and I told her mine was just fine until I came to "her" restaurant. She said I don't need customers like you and that she would give me all of my money back. I said fine, I'll give you all of your cold food back. I went to my car, retrieved the food and brought it back inside gave it to her and got my money. On my way out she called me a dam customer so I turned around an confronted her about using the same "cuss" word that I had used. She then kicked me out of the building and said to never come back to "her" store ever again. I promised that neither me or any of my family would ever be back. Bottom line, McDonald's are like Starbucks, there is one on every corner but they are usually just as bad. I have eaten at this particular McDonald's ever since it opened many many years ago. Amanda will be gone in 6 months and it...
Read moreWorkers seem to just want to clock in and not do their job. 2nd time Ive spent more than 20 minutes and had to go back to fix the order. Owner and GM need to intervene immediately. Corporate needs to secret shop this place between 8pm to 10pm. Absolutely horrible. Another lost customer here. If I am with anyone and they feel like going to Mcdonalds, I will convince them otherwise. This is the most sorriest Mcdonalds I have been to in my life. A job is something you sign up for, you get paid to do something. If you aint doing what your paid to do here, you most likely will do the same somewhere else. These workers setting themselves up for failure. Managers blame, yell, and talk down to workers. Lead and take responsibility and cut the weak links to make the chain stronger. Gather the troops, ask the team, "Who doesn't want to be here tonight?". First person who raises their hand... fire them. Then ask does anyone else not want to be here, fix the problems. Managers need to correct the mistakes, take responsibility and lead. If someone screws up an order, go back there, make and correct order. Dont blame others for what you're...
