Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries — Restaurant in New Bern

I would not give this place one star. Visited in 2/8/25. About 5 pm. One waitress two other staff members. One stayed talking to his girlfriend who was watching a movie. The other who was apparently the manager on duty just stood there. While the waitress had 5 tables and was helping multiple people in line. She was working hard to catch up. One interaction with a customer made the customer state she was rude. To which the guy talking to his girlfriend confronted wht waitress. The next lady in line had an issue with her order and stated he order was wrong. To the girl apologized and began doing something to the register. That is when the guy talking to his girlfriend the whole time started yelling at the girl in front of everyone. The manager doing nothing. The guy yelling said I aint the one and slapped his hand. Stating he will tell u about yourself. We had been there 15 minutes. Not talked to. How instead of yelling at the waitress the other 2 staff members not doing anything help her get caught up. How about your girlfriend stay home so you can work. How about the manager do what a manager should do. Completely unacceptable. I hope that waitress finds better place of employment. We left. As we're we were leaving the guy with his girlfriend said see that's the 3rd table that left. Maybe we would stay if yall worked together. My advice do not go to...

Went in today about 12:30 on my lunch break to place a to go order. Wasn't too busy at all. Maybe only about 3-4 tables in there eating. Sat at the counter so I could place my order and there was one waitress right there behind the counter having a conversation with somebody sitting 2 stools down from me. She looked straight at me as I sat down and continued her conversation. Two more waitresses walk by on front of me over the next several minutes and nobody acknowledges me at all. After about 10 minutes of sitting there and having them walk by me at least 10 times one finally asks if I've been helped yet. When I say no she apologizes and says she thought someone had helped me. She takes my order and rings me up and gives me a discount for my wait, which really wasn't necessary to me but I appreciate her trying to make it better. Meanwhile the other two girls just said they thought somebody had helped me, even though the one looked right at me as I sat down and stood right there in front of me talking, I don't know who she thought would've helped me. Got my food and left and when I opened it up to eat I had a bacon cheeseburger with no bacon on it, and chili cheese fries that I had to eat with my hands because they didn't give me a fork. We visit this location a couple times a month, and have had good service and food… until today. We stopped by around 2:00 and waited in line for two families to pay, so we could request menus to place a to go order. We received the menu, and took a seat at the counter. After a few minutes, I made eye contact with one of the waitresses (who was on the other side of the counter, less than two feet away) and she asked “are you ready to order?”, and I told her we were. She walked away, and I thought she was going to get a pad to take our order, or do something before taking our order. I was wrong. A few minutes later she came back and took a to go order from a man who had just walked in. This gentleman came in after us, yet she was taking his order before us. Not sure if they were friends, or what happened, but he was sitting only two chairs down from us, so she was fully aware we were still waiting to place our order. At that point, we had been in there for about 10 minutes, without being able to place an order, and decided to take our business somewhere else. I am giving them three stars based on previous visits. Hopefully this was a “one off”. I will give them another try, and hopefully get one of the other waitresses we have had...
