The Ice Cream Drip — Restaurant in New Bern

I visited this ice cream shop for the first time and had a decent experience; First of all bonus points as the “coffee shake” was not just good, it was phenomenal!!! That said, I honestly expected a bit more in terms of their customer service. As a relatively new business I can totally understand a few hiccups as you try to navigate and get into the swing of things. But the owners or managers just seemed really high strung, arrogant and somewhat condescending. Ive tried to think of the best way to accurately describe their demeanor during the brief interaction with my family, but as well when observing them talking to their own staff and all I can say is they just gave off a really unpleasant vibe. It’s hard to explain maybe it’s one of those moments when it’s not necessarily the things one says… but how they say it?? But hey.. everyone’s entitled to have an off day.. I’ve had plenty of those kinda days myself so I decided to give them another try… I mean seriously who doesn’t love great ice cream and as I mentioned before… that coffee shake was absolutely incredible. However, on my second visit, I was really let down. Not only did we observe that same type of uncomfortable interactions between the owners / staff but the ice cream I ordered had a sour taste, and gooey texture which made it pretty much inedible. I am compelled to share a disappointing experience. Upon arrival, my father and I were not greeted with a customary hello or acknowledgement. When the server took our order, she seemed hesitant to engage with us. She was actually just starring at us. As we placed our order for milkshakes, I noticed the owner, who deliberately avoided eye contact with me. I always thought it was customary for business owners to acknowledge their patrons, but this individual made a concerted effort to disregard me. Unfortunately, it became apparent that she was uncomfortable with my presence due to me being BLACK and my dad WHITE. I was dismayed to witness such blatant disrespect. My family and I went this week for the first time and we were so excited to support this small family owned business!! Our service was amazing, the ice cream was delicious and the place is downright adorable! We will definitely be going back asap! I love how many options of flavors they have and all the different menu items! There is something for everyone.
