Stayed at the resort a few days over Spring Break, and I was not too impressed. This is specifically for the Resort at the Barn. There are other accomodations at Schlitterbahn, but I have no experience with those. Our room was really run down, and it smelled musty. For something called a "resort" I was expecting more, but this experience was a little more than "glamping". I think that's what they are going for though, a better than camping experience, like cabins in the woods. Maintenance stopped caring about repairs on this place a long time ago. I could only open my closet door halfway, and I had to really push and yank up on the back door just to get it to latch. The furniture was old, there were stains on the floor, scratches on the walls, cracks on ceilings, mildew on the bathtub caulking, a floor that dipped and bowed, a yellowed toilet paper holder straight out of the 1970s, random wall plate covers, covering nothing. Oh, and the worst was when I first got there, the mirror was slightly covering a wall outlet. I thought it must have been a medicine cabinet with a door. So I attempted to swing it open, but it was just a mirror. The whole thing fell off, revealing an ugly, unfinished cavity in the wall. The mirror was simply resting on some screws.
There were some pros. For the condition of the room, it did feel safe. There was a lovely back porch overlooking a great pool, a little ways off. There was so much outdoor eating space. The back porch had 2 tables, there was another patio table shared by the adjacent room, then another patio table with a grill, just a step away from the back porch, and another picnic table immediately out front. The pool was nice and heated, and there were nightly, outdoor movies on the property.
There weren't many pictures of this place, so it was a bit misleading, and calling this a resort hardly fit the description. It was affordable for what it was, but I probably wouldn't stay there again. It definitely would not be worth it during the season, when prices are higher. We were there in the off season, when the park was closed. Not the worst place I've stayed, but not that good. This would be a good place if you're ok with really old, run down, and musty smelling, but it's just...

My husband and I have been going to Schlitterbahn for decades and we have been taking our children there for about six years now. It used to be the highlight of our summer. This trip was such a disappointment.
Don't bother staying at the resort. There is now zero benefit to doing so. You no longer have early or late access to the park. You get to be herded around like cattle with the rest of the guests. There is now only one entry and exit point to all lazy rivers including the Torrent River. That's right, the beach is completely gated off aside from one small entry/exit in the center. You cannot move freely about the park the same way you once could. The Falls: one entry, one exit, no more infinite loop. You go around one time and are forced off after the conveyer belt then have to go wait in line again, if you want. You read that correctly, they have managed to create a line with about a 20 minute wait time to enter The Falls. TERRIBLE.
I could write a book about the disappointment and the safety hazards they created including but not limited to opening the park at 11, but not actually letting people on rides until about 20 minutes later because they herd them to the bottom of the Master Blaster tower while water pours down on them all then release the hundreds of people that have been corralled simultaneously to all climb the tower at once. Literally hundreds of people rusing up, I don't know, 20 or so flights of wet stairs. GENIUS.
Parts of rides shut down. Parts of rides now off limits. I really might write a book. I never thought I would ever imagine cutting a Schlitterbahn trip short, but that's exactly what we did. Three or four years ago I would have given this place a five star review. Cedar Fair has managed to suck all the fun out of Schlitterbahn. That took some serious effort on their part, but mission...
Read moreFirst of all, the resort option is VERY convenient. We stayed at the Wasser Haus which was a very reasonable drive to park resort parking. It's important to remember that this resort is more camping cabin style and not "resort" style. I would guess that Wasser Haus was built in the early to mid 80s (it needs to be updated, It's definitely possible that it was built earlier and then remodeled in the 80s). Our room had a small kitchenette with mini fridge, two electric stovetop elements, stocked with ceramic dishes & a basic pot/frying pan & utensils which would be nice for a multiple day stay.
There was also a clothes line in the shower which is great for hanging up wet swimsuits.
There were many things which made it a place that we wouldn't want to stay at again, esp for the price we paid.
The TV remote, sealed in a plastic bag sleeve, wouldn't work so we couldn't watch TV at the end of the day.
The bathroom door had a lock but wouldn't completely close/latch, and so, couldn't lock. That wasn't a deal breaker for us since we were there with our teenage daughter, but with small children there would be NO way to keep kids out of the bathroom at any point.
There was a switch for a bathroom fan but the fan wouldn't work so it was just a nasty, humid mess in there after showering.
There was no bath mat so we had to use a hand towel which technically did the job but it wouldn't stay in place. If what we used was actually a bath mat then it was just really thin.
There was a separate vanity area, which I definitely prefer, but there was nothing to hang a hand towel on so it toke up valuable real estate on the counter.
There were also ROACHES in the room which would run back behind the water heater which was hidden behind a fabric curtain. I'm pretty sure they were outdoor roaches but still, they were 1.5-2" long and they were ROACHES! 😜
If that stuff doesn't bother you then go for it but I don't think it's AT ALL worth the price or...
