Horrible experience. Bought tickets online. Never been here before. Took my 3 kids. Initially it started out fine. We got into the park and the lady who scanned our tickets kindly told us where to go to get our souvenir cup. We went and looked at the map of the park and decided what we wanted to start with. It required tubes so we followed the signs and saw a bunch of tubes by a security setup. There was a security guy but he was dealing with a line of people who already had inner tube going the opposite direction from us. But there was a sign at the entrance where all the tubes were saying authorized personnel only, but no personnel on duty handing them out, so we thought we were in the wrong place and kept walking past the line of people who already had inner tubes thinking we were going to find where to get the inner tubes. Once we got to the end of the line, we realized that these people were coming off of a ride, so we joined the line to get back where we came from. When we got to the front of the line, the security officer (Waylon Polk) told me that we had to go back to the front gate and pay again because we did not have a stamp on our hands. I tried showing him the tickets on my phone but he caused a scene and said he couldn’t look at that and that we had to leave and go pay again. I had bought the tickets online because they were cheaper than at the gate, but I didn’t have enough left to buy a second round of admission, so my daughter (grown) had to pay another $400 to get us back in. Then we got our inner tubes and tried out the first attraction. Then we went to the map again and decided what to do next. We decided to go to the other side of the park so took some time to find the shuttle and ride over there. We get there and my 17 year old wanted to go on an attraction that I also wanted to go on, my eldest daughter wanted to sit out and the youngest wanted to try a different slide. So my oldest sat by the entrance to the slides while the rest of us went up the stairs. There was no line for the ride my youngest wanted to go on, but before we had come up the stairs, there was a sign saying the line was 35 minutes long. There was a line on the slide my middle one and I went on, so I told my youngest to go ahead on her slide and we would meet her when we got down the slide. We got down the slide, went back to meet up with the other 2, but it was only my oldest. She said my youngest had never came back. So we waited another 10 minutes or so and then we approached an employee with a radio and asked where to go to find my missing kid. He asked if she had gone on one of the slides and I acknowledged that she did and he didn’t seem the least bit concerned when he told me she was probably still in line for the slide as there was a 2.5 hour wait. We waited another hour even though there was only a 35 minute wait when we went up. She still hadn’t shown up and I was about to lose it but then she finally came down from the slide. We decided to eat something before going on anymore attractions. We found a place that had a little bit of everything and ordered from there. They were doing shift changes as we got to the front of the line so we had to wait to order. Then we ordered and the cashier said he couldn’t find the number flags that they give you so that the delivery person knows where the food goes. So he said he just put a description of us in the notes of the order. There were no tables open, so we were standing around waiting for our food with no place to sit. After about 30 minutes, a table opened up, so we sat down thinking our food should be out any time. It took another 30 minutes and the food was definitely NOT work the wait (or the price for that matter). We finally decided to do one more attraction. Unfortunately the lines were so long that my daughter (oldest) got overheated and we ended up deciding to go. By this time it’s 5pm. So we spent about $800 on admission, food and drink and literally rode 2 attractions and had to deal with some of the rudest staff I have ever met. I don’t...
Read moreI wish I had a better experience at this park but I didn't. We decided on Schlitterbahn New Braunfels because we've been to the one in Galveston plenty of time and we learned this one was twice as big. The problems: The cabana came with reserved parking, we arrived at 2pm and it was packed. We were told let the guy who was directing traffic know we have reserved parking. I had to show the guy my purchase which was expected but I was then told to drive around the lot and look for a parking spot with a cone, come to service desk then retrieve a sticker then go place it on my car. That was a bit of an extreme process. Why the guy couldn't just give me a sticker right then and there. Well I didn't even get a chance to do the full process because lot was full. The guy at the service desk ask me did I drive around the whole lot and check? I told him yes even on the sides. Well I guess he didn't believe because he then said we have to go look again. This time I'm now on foot following him through a lot that I already knew was full. We passed a golf cart which I'm thinking why didn't we just take that vs us walk this whole lot. Finally he tells me to just park in employees lot on the side, and he will take the heat from his boss or whomever if something was to happen. I asked can we park in the spot closest to the park, I have lots of things to carry inside (only myself and 3 girls with me because the boys were busy trying to find parking on the other side of the park) but I was told no it's best to park in the last spot because I wasn't supposed to be in the employees parking anyway. He told me I could park in front of the entrance and to unload. We decide we wasted enough time on the parking issue, so we will just try to bring everything in best as we could. As we're unpacking the truck, now we are faced with every employee passing, stopping and telling us we cant park there. One of the guys being really pushy and not really wanting to hear what we had to say. I had to beg him to listen and reason with what I was trying to tell him. Finally he radios the first desk and they confirmed. This indeed gave me a light headache. We made it to first desk because now we had to show them our park tickets. They scanned the tickets then I asked how do we get to the surfenberg cabana. The walk was unreal but we may it taking a few rest breaks along the way. Shortly after arriving at the cabana, we were approached by a woman saying she think we're in her cabana. I assured her we were in the right one and showed her my last name on the cabana. As she was walking away I'm realizing this couple had help with their bags from the staff but we we're offered any help and they sat there and watched a woman and three girls struggled. Wow. I then called the number because we needed help getting situated but the guy didn't show up until an hour lately after I had already figured out everything myself. Once he arrived he didn't introduce himself or anything. He didn't tell us how to use the safe or any of the discounted items (souvenirs and merchandise) that were available to purchase. Us girls sat and started eating until the boys arrived. They did finally arrive 30mins after we were done eating because it took them that long to find a parking space and the tram (bus) line was so long they had to catch the third one. The lines are super long and the wait for each ride is fourty-five mins to an hour long. Which we were able to ride a total of 4 rides before it was closing time. They felt like this was the worst birthday they ever had and I would have to agree. The park itself is beautiful. The rides we did get to experience was awesome but the staff is not the best at all. I feel like the staff robbed us out of...
Read moreI have been coming to this water park we every single year since I was a kid... for over 40 years now. It is one of my greatest childhood memories and also that of my children. It was a friendly, fun, relaxing, family oriented water park that stood out amongst all others. We loved the main park most for it's unique rides that featured river water with a few of them ending in the river. Ever since the park was bought out things have adversely changed. Entering the newly added gates, feels more like going through airport security with the metal detectors and security searches. The park can get crowded and lines can get long which can be expected. We used to enjoy ourselves in the cold lagoon while waiting for lines to go down. Unfortunately, the Hillside is no longer river water and neither is the lagoon... So it's like floating in a hot tub on 100° day. Our visit this August was by far the worst experience we've ever had this far, which has helped us make the decision to no longer spend our money purchasing season passes as we will no longer be visiting regularly. he lines we stood in were actually shorter than normal but yet the lines took double the time to enter the ride. It appears they allow unlimited fast passes and they merge them in to the front of the line. No longer did they have to schedule their fast pass time slot, so they were able to ride as many times as they wanted. Many of them went 3-4 times while we stood in line for more than 2.5 hours. The park hours used to be 10-8pm even on week days.... They have been shortened by 3 hours with only 7 hours to ride the rides. With such long lines, we were only able to ride 3 rides the whole day without breaking to eat lunch. They were short-staffed, they had ride exits to the river closed off (this seems to be the norm now), Many of the rides were closed, even those like the Cliffhanger that specifically said on the website that it would be open. There were plenty of staff for the shop and all of the restaurants. With the lines being so long at the main park, we decided we would shuttle over to the other park and float in the Torrent River. Upon arriving having to stand in line to get in (that was new a couple right after the new company took over), we discovered that we were now required to wear life jackets to get in. That's was the final straw! Do you know how ridiculous that looked! That's like being a life long skater and being required to wear a helmet and body pads that you don't want to wear at the skating rink! Many people took off their life jackets in the Torrent River (I don't blame them), therefore there were hundreds of life jackets floating around, getting stuck on people's legs, arms, feet, etc causing an actual hazard! We were also told by some of the staff that have worked there for multiple years, that their pay was reduced this year. That's probably why most of the employees unfriendly, unhelpful and RUDE! Save your hard earned money, I wouldn't waste on this water park. It's only about to get worse as Cedar Fair just finalized their merger...
