Connecticut Muffin NC — Restaurant in New Canaan

!!Hygiene Alert!! I can’t believe this…. PLEASE CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE EATING. Please read. As I wouldn’t want anyone to go through what I went through today, 11.05.2023.

My boyfriend who grew up in new Canaan and has lived there basically most of his life, was excited to take me to the CT muffin place. We get there and ordered a blueberry muffin, a latte, orange juice and a toasted bagel (with scallion cream cheese, and smoked salmon).

We sat inside to eat. After a moment, I do not know what made me look at my food. I literally spotted two pieces of scallion with dirt inside. I told my boyfriend to take a look as I didn’t want to believe they didn’t take any hygienic measures when preparing my food. I took my sandwich to the young man who served us. He showed no remorse whatsoever. And tells me “oh it must be bread inside your scallions”. I told him I cook everyday and have been for years, and I use scallions. I KNOW WHAT AN UNWASHED RAW SCALLION LOOKS LIKE. that dirt was brown and sandy. There is no way bread got on the inside of a raw fresh scallion and stuck onto the leave the way it did. You just DID NOT WASH YOUR PRODUCE prior to prepping my food. The young man did not even feel sorry for a bit. I told him I couldn’t finish the rest of my sandwich as I have a weak health and I am scared of getting sick. He just pointed in the direction of the trash for me to go throw it out. Never did he express he was sorry, nor did he even offer taking the rest of the food from me to throw it out or find a solution.

He was on FaceTime with two people when we walked in and went back to talking to those people. very NASTY. If I were someone who doesn’t regularly cook and shop for produces myself, I would have probably believed him and would have kept eating a unhygienic food. The customer service was the RUDEST I have ever experienced. My boyfriend let me know that growing up in New Canaan there used to be two older people working at the place and they were rather pleasant. Please take care of thoroughly washing your produce before making the food you sell to people. Please take all hygienic measures to make sure you do not get the people who come to buy...

I am so shocked and disappointed with their service lately. I’ve been a customer for years and in the beginning everything was great but in the past few months I’ve been treated terribly and their customer service has dropped unbelievably far below standard. In at least the past 6 months, every single time I’ve placed an order it was either done incorrectly (meaning I received a completely different item than the one I ordered) and I’ve had to pay twice sometimes three times in one day just to get my correct order! They make ME pay for THEIR mistake! Which was fine the first few times but it’s gotten to the point where it’s just ridiculous, so I’ve stayed away. However, today I gave them another chance because, when done correctly, their stuff is really delicious. My favorite is the iced Almond Chai lattes (which are definitely still on their menu) yet somehow today my order was just canceled. No explanation, no detail just canceled. You can not go wrong with this charming cafe with very much a European ambiance. Cheerful, creative lighting, artful visual menu selections, encourage you to examine well selected and perfected choices. Coffee is always fresh,, flavored or not, almond milk available. Muffins rank the best in New Canaan, egg sandwiches are house specialty, prepared to taste on almost anything,. Sandwiches offer a palate please and creative grouping of flavors combos, my favorite being mozzarella and pesto panini. Sweets include lemon cake, magic bars and cookies like you deserve them…and brownies!
