Elegant cotemporary ambience, friendly folks, organized menu with creative name of dishes and flavors to match!
We went there to dine in as a family after hearing lot about this place from friends. There was a lot of buzz about this newly opened place in New Haven. So, being the foodie family we are, we decided to check it out.
We were expecting to see a run of the mill ambience of an Indian Restaurant that we are so used to in most of the places. However, to our surprise, what impressed us right of the bat was, the décor, the unique design of the tables and the bright lit yet soothing atmosphere of the place.
We were greeted with the friendly folks running the floor. It did not take long to realize that both of them loved what they were doing. One of them was the owner himself and hearing him talk so passionately about the place, the dishes and his long 34 year experience in the food industry, we could not wait to order and try out the several dishes he recommended to us.
Boy, we were blown away!!! We started with select vegetarian and non-vegetarian appetizers. Avocado Bhel Poori (a traditional Indian fast food) was extraordinary. The way it was presented in the plate, unique flavors it had, was a delight for the palate. I personally am a big non vegetarian person and am very skeptic about my dishes. My Pahadi Murgh Kebab went very well with my cold Taj Beer. Meat was perfectly cooked, tender and full of flavors. Given the catchy names on the menu, we could not resist order some of the uniquely named dishes along with the regular well-known names. We ordered Hyderabaadi Gosht Bahar, Veggie Tikka Masala, Palal Malai Kofta along with regular and garlic naans. My son, who is usually very skeptic of Indian Dishes and is almost never satisfied with anything, actually raved about his Fish Tandoori. He liked it so much that he wanted us to promise him that we would be back. The content look on our faces after savoring the dishes we had ordered, was a testimony enough to the fact that we had made the right decision to come out and try this new place.
The place is not that big size wise, but the layout is spacious and organized with enough space to fine dine and socialize. While we were there, there was a continuous traffic of takeout orders throughout. So, seems like they are doing something different and it is catching on. We will be back soon to try some of the other dishes on their menu.
Can’t wait. Definitely...
Read moreThis use to be my favorite restaurants in new haven. But recently I experienced rude behavior from the server! I called to order a pickup meal and it was half hr before they close but the guy on call refused and said we don’t take orders after Bla- bla time but this never happened before they always use take order even dine in. I was a regular client there mostly ever 2 weeks i use have dinner there but they lost a customer coz of the rude behavior of the “NEW STAFF “. And he was rude before as well when we dine in Which was legit I felt like he dint want to work or maybe forced to work as he was about to drop food when he was serving and also he slammed cutlery on table! I must say the guy who I use to see before was awesome 👏🏻 and appreciable. He never failed to give best service. He would come to customers 2-3 throughout they are present and would give nice greetings ! he was amazing guy. Other than this I don’t know for some reason they serve sometimes 2 pc samosa sometimes 3 pc ! I never got that why as I would always order samosa and they would serve 3pcs but last time they 2 pcs before that they served 3 pcs and then recently again just 2. Also I think chef got replaced as I was ordering noodles from 2 times and I had to throw them as they were not spicy not even the taste it use to be! So I stopped giving order for noodles. Also I tried contacting owner I guess, I don’t know if he is the owner but he is a short guy I asked him for some help as we were having dinner there but he refused 😕 and also when we completed our dinner they receipt had gratuity for reason and they never charged us before but I don’t get it but this time they did 20% gratuity as well. I would love if they make some changes after reading this review. I still love the food, food is delicious but customer...
Read moreI ate there with a friend for the first time in July 2023, as I live near by and wanted to give it a shot. The Food we ordered was Ok err on the side of good. My friend appreciated his spice level (he likes it hot), and I'll admit mine was on the hotter side too (could have toned it down a notch for me), so if spice is your think it may become better for you. Serving size might have been a bit on the small side, but still fair I suppose. The atmosphere works for such a small place, it seemed clean enough and well designed. Where this crossed into the "not so good" territory was in the minimalist lack luster service. We probably saw our waiter a total of 4-5 times for the entire more than an hour meal. Literally: Order, Bring Food, take away plates, check. NO WATER REFILS, NO ASK IF WE WANT A SECOND BEVERAGE, basically they stood there talking amongst themselves over at the bar the entire time. I drink a lot of water, so for me that part by itself is bad, but even worse when you're dealing with Spicy Food! It seemed like we were done for a bit before they came over to clear as well. To add insult to injury THEY IGNORED MY TIP WRITTEN IN AND GAVE THEMSELVES EXTRA MONEY WHEN PROCESSING MY CARD! It isn't enough money for me to go back and argue or call up the credit company, it's likely they just assumed they could hit a certain % button and not pay attention BUT WHEN YOUR SERVICE SUCKS IT MATTERS. That Dishonesty crossed the line into leaving a bad review and vowing to not go there again. (Note: our party size was 2 on a not so busy afternoon, no excuses there.) If you really want to try it, I would plan on paying Cash to avoid said dishonesty. Too bad too, I had hoped to try the Goat as I don't see that on a...
