Miso Restaurant — Restaurant in New Haven

Booked a table for 12 people. When we arrived, waiting staff were surprised that we wanted a table for 12, as though they had forgotten our booking.

The food was mediocre. Portion sizes were tiny and prices were high.

The atmosphere was not enjoyable. The wait staff were miserable (perhaps underpaid?), and unhappy that we wanted to split the bill between 3 cards and reluctantly accepted two cards between 12 of us!

For the price and quality/quantity of food I would definitely chose a different resteraunt next time!

The reply from Miso is comical. We did not arrive at rush hour, in fact there was no one else at the resteraunt. When it was time to settle the bill, there were only a couple of other patrons, so it was definitely not rush hour then either.

As for splitting the bill, we asked to split between 3 cards, not 13. Miso, please read my review carefully...

This is my first time writing a Google review. It'd be a more accurate review if Google review supported the "0-star" function.

I had a terrible experience today. I ordered just two dishes and waited for thirty minutes. I didn't get anything except a bowl of miso soup. Finally, one server, different from a server who got my order, came to me and said the cook had just checked now. I was told to wait 15 minutes more since they had just started. (One remark: I waited 30 minutes for two dishes which requires only 15 minutes in theory...)

Almost every time I visited Miso, I had to wait for at least 40 minutes to get food, even if I just ordered two dishes. Moreover, when I made a delivery order through Uber Eats, it took more than an hour to get the food while the system said 30-40 minutes was expected.

I like Miso's dish. But these experiences make me not...

The Seafood Soup is out of this world. It really TASTES like Seafood. lol. The host who greeted me was very kind and polite. The portion was less than a filler-upper but it’s okay cause the quality and flavor was out of this world.

I recommend if you like Good Food! I also got the miso rice. Which is supposed to come with scallops, mushrooms & shrimp. Only had shrimp in it & he gave some pushback to add scallops. lol. They added 2. No mushrooms though.

Then he said “You got the smaller portion.” Which has nothing to do with the fact there were no mushrooms or scallops in it but it’s alright. I got over it.

Food was good....
