I didn't even get a chance to try the food! I placed on order online, when I got there expecting to grab-n-go. I was informed by a woman behind the counter that some of the menu items I requested weren't on the menu that day. She said they tried or couldn't contact me because the system was giving them trouble. A man, possibly the chef, also came out from the back, and gave me some other options. I told him what I wanted instead, said I'll be right back. Had to go move my car, didn't want a ticket. I came back inside no less than 3 min, now there are other customers inside. No problem, but I thought my food would've been packed and ready to go since I gave my replacement and I placed the order online 20-30 min ago. Every customer after me was waited on, and when it got to the gentleman before me. From my observation the lady behind the counter gave him a nice big flirtatious smile. She was very happy to serve him, she packed his food nice and gently, with love and care like she was courting him. Meanwhile, I've been waiting. While she was packing the other guys food, apparently the man/chef never informed her of my substitutes or attempted to prepare my order. She knew I'd been waiting and tried to call to him, but he never came out. I ended up telling her to cancel my order. Food look good, but I'll never know.

Update: this was pre-Covid. I just got around to...

Wow, what an incredible experience! This vegan Caribbean restaurant didn’t just serve amazing food – it felt like home. From the moment I walked in, the energy was warm and inviting, like I’d been welcomed into a family gathering.

I decided to treat myself to five different dishes: curry chickpeas, mixed veggie curry, green beans, rice and beans, sweet potatoes, and plantains. Every bite was a burst of flavor, with just the right spices that made each dish feel authentic and comforting. The plantains were perfectly caramelized, and the curries were rich and satisfying – it was like getting a true taste of the Caribbean.

The drinks were also outstanding. I had both the freshly made ginger juice and the hibiscus-ginger juice, which were refreshing with that perfect hint of spice. And just when I thought things couldn’t get any better, they surprised me with a complimentary lentil soup. It was absolutely delicious – flavorful, spiced to perfection, and the ideal start to an unforgettable meal.

This place is a hidden gem. The food, the drinks, the energy – everything was amazing. I’ll be back for sure, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for vegan food with...

Best vegan food I’ve had in New Haven, as a longtime local vegan. This place is an unassuming family owned business that clearly puts a lot of TLC into their food. I ordered the small combo plate and chose the curry tofu, mac and cheeze, and cabbage, and everything was incredible. Vegan mac is one of my favorite foods so it was a pleasant surprise to enjoy the tofu and cabbage just as much, if not more. If you’re looking for the perfect cozy curry sauce, this place has you covered. The spices on the cabbage were incredible. They were very kind, and it was sweet to see an older woman dancing to the music they were playing. Absolutely FIRE food and great energy in that place, even from my quick stop in to pick up my phone order. I was curious about their story and loved reading the “about” on their website - they’re long time local residents bringing nutritious, local vegan food to New Haven. Looking forward to trying more...

This family-run joint is hands-down the best restaurant in New Haven! The food, people, place and overall vibe is out of this world. I've been there a few times and each time has been amazing and led me to refer so many people to a lovely vegan meal here. But my most recent visit was by far the best and kindest service I have ever received! The jerk tofu and sweet potatoes are my favourite and when I went in, they said it would take some time as they are still preparing it - we waiting eagerly. Quelin and Martin are so kind and gave my friend and I new food items to try to thank us for waiting. We got the 5 combo meal and by the end of our experience, we had easily gotten double the amount of already large portions! I am so happy to have this kind of restaurant so close to me, especially with the humble and kind-hearted people that run it. I cannot wait to go back and bring everyone I know with me. If I could give more stars, I would!

The best vegan food and my favorite restaurant in town. The jerk tofu is incredible, the Mac and cheese is to die for, the greens are savory and delicious. The chickpeas are saucy and delightful. I haven’t had anything I didn’t like. This is a true gem of new haven and I can’t speak any more highly of it. Usually you either have to go in or call ahead, I don’t think they use any take-out apps. But honestly the trip is more than worth it. They don’t use any highly processed meat substitutes, just hearty and filling vegetables, beans, etc. And, because of this I would strongly recommend to both herbivores and omnivores alike. Worth making a trip if you live in CT, I love to get it after going on a long east rock hike.
