Million Asian Market — Local services in New Haven

They have charged me wrongly over three times so I guess it’s beyond giving a benefit of doubt.

First time it was a small Chinese cabbage, which was probably 2lbs but was scaled as 6lbs; second time it was some other products with more quantities; yesterday I bought two boxes of Thai chill peppers and went home finding it was charged for three boxes.

For previous two times I checked my receipt immediately after paying, and went back to the store and communicated with the owner. They were super nice and would do adjustment right way, saying they probably have touchscreen that’s not very sensitive. After two times I thought it won’t happen again but yet it still happened. Statistically speaking, if there is something wrong with the cashier screen, how come every time it was over charging??? It should be sometimes under charged too. If this happens accidentally not on purpose.

I’m very disappointed by this unethical behavior. Don’t get me wrong their store is neat and has great selection of produces, but them keeping cheating small amounts of quantities should not get them anywhere. Plus their discount fee is so sus, I wonder how IRS would think of that. Also I hate the constant inappropriate greeting from the butcher at the meat counter, always calling me “babe”. I feel so uncomfortable every time and will not shop again unless it’s absolutely necessary. In comparison the Hong Kong store on Whitney is much more honest and polite store. Be careful when shopping here. They like to overcharge/overweigh for items or to add charges to your bill. Sometimes the total on the receipt does not match the sum of the item prices. Their homemade POS system is pretty suspicious and they put no identifiers on the itemized receipt so you can't check prices. My total is always higher than expected, especially when I have lots of items. I have had to keep track of my total on my own calculator when they are scanning items. It's pretty predatory as they know people would rather just pay the total than check through every price and item. Also, many stocked items are expired and they won't warn you or...

VERY Dishonest Owner!!!

About a month ago, I wanted to buy some instant noodles at this market and discovered they had been expired for several months. I immediately reported this to the owner. When I returned today to check if they had restocked properly, I was shocked to find that not only were there no new products, but the production dates on the packaging had been deliberately erased. This is an outrageous and dangerous practice that shows complete disregard for customer safety. I strongly warn everyone: DO NOT TRUST this store. Always check production dates carefully — or better yet, take your business...
