Highly recommend creating your own! But must start with the Cachapa!!! Sweet corn arepas are just as good if not better than the Yale colombian arepas cart by the Peabody. An now you can get them at any point of time!!! Any whoo! Cachapa and Carne Mechada is my go too! Get w.e. toppings you'd like an ask for the Garlic Aioli an the Guasaca as sauces. It goes great with the carne mechada! Enjoy. If you want the replica of my order as the photo shows: Cachapa Carne Mechada More corn Plantains Pickled onions Queso Blanco (Sauces Not spicy...but has Cilantro) Garlic aioli Guasaca I recommend dinning in because the sauces are as you can see are given with love. If you take out you may want to ask for more sauce if you end up enjoying it as much as I did. Thank you so much for opening up!

If you're looking for a delicious meal, look no further. This family-owned restaurant serves up the best arepas in the area, made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The arepas are the star of the show, but there are also plenty of other delicious dishes to choose from, such as cachapas, empanadas, and tequenos. We had two different Arepas and the taquenos. The service at Somos is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. There is a counter where we selected the toppings and sauces for our meals. The staff were fantastic at recommending what paired well with our selections. Overall, I would highly recommend Somos Handcrafted Arepas to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Venezuelan meal.

Good heavens, what a wonderful new addition to New Haven. The staff here were happy to answer all of my questions (which admittedly were many) and provide recommendations when I found myself torn between my choices. I ended up getting a pulled chicken arepa with rosada sauce and an avocado chicken salad arepa with the guacasaca, and both were absolutely delicious. This feels like the kind of place where I could order any combination of fillings, toppings, and sauce, and I would end up very happily satisfied no matter what, and I definitely plan on trying to come by here regularly. Don't forget to try the tequanos!

Wouldn’t recommend I came here because I was craving some Venezuelan food, but it turned out to be a disappointment. The food looked okay behind the glass, but once I took a bite, it was obvious it wasn’t fresh. My arepa was dry and tough, like it had been sitting around for hours. The beef inside was overcooked and barely had any flavor.

I also tried a bowl just to give it another shot, but it was more of the same. The rice was dry, the meat was bland, and everything just felt thrown together with no care at all. The setup is kind of like Chipotle, but the service doesn’t match. Andres, the employee, barely made eye contact and rushed through the order like he didn’t want to be there.

For what they charge, the quality just isn’t there. There are definitely better spots nearby that actually serve fresh and flavorful food. This place needs a serious upgrade before I’d consider...

Extremely disappointed. I contacted Somos at around 12:30 p.m. to place an order of 20 Empanadas to be ready at 5:15 p.m. I wanted to place the order over the phone but was told, by an employee, to instead place order online. So I did.

I contacted Somos again at around 3:30 p.m. because I wanted to change the pick up time to 5:30 p.m. but was told, by the same employee that I spoke with at 12:30 p.m., that they never received the online order. Strange because the charge was already taken out of my bank account.

I asked to speak with a manager but the employee told me that a manager was not available. I then asked for a refund and was told they they cannot provide me with a refund - WHAT!?

I am very upset at how Somos handles this situation. I will not be supporting this...
