I don't typically write reviews, but the phenomenon I have experienced here is unique. I have visited twice in the past four months. The drinks are excellent, but both of my experiences with the service have been negative. The first time I went with a female friend on a weeknight about four months ago. We edged up to the bar, took a seat and had our cash/cards in hand.
It took approximately 20+ minutes to get our order taken despite it being relatively slow and others who had arrived after us getting served before us (male customers - perhaps coincidence). We were approached by a bar back who said he couldn't help us during that time.
We were nearly about to leave, but we were approached with apologies and our order was taken. We let it go thinking it was an off night.
Last night, I had a similar experience with another female friend ordering for our group. It was busy this time. She was expectantly waiting at the bar with us standing behind her only to be met by a bartender who said "this isn't my well",and he walked away. Again we were nearly ready to go when we were served. A male friend who arrived separately at the bar after us had no problem getting his order taken before us.
I won't draw any conclusions further because I do not want to be disparaging, but I want to be honest about my experience and observations there. Great product, but I have had better service in...
Read moreGreat place for all things whisky. I went with a friend and we both enjoyed ourselves. Knowledgeable bartenders can point you in the right direction if you're lost. They do have some bar food for those that are looking for a snack, but I did not partake. If your in the New Orleans area and love whiskey, you need to check this place out. All sorts, Irish, scotch, bourbon, Canadian, and Japanese all to take in!!
Area it's located is a nice area. Kinda in a neighborhood. If you weren't looking for the place you might miss it. It has some outdoor seating but that was full when I went. They do have a full bar, so if you're not looking for whiskey, you still have beer and other drinks to have.
It can get a little loud, as there is not much to soak up the noise inside. Not terrible and it shouldn't hamper your conversation, but something to take note of.
Finally, I didn't feel intimidated at all in this place. No whiskey snobs here judging you. Just cool laid back bartenders and normal patrons. Seriously check this place out if you're a lover of whiskey!! You will not be disappointed. Next time I'm in New Orleans, I will definitely be back to try something new. This is a must visit every time...
Read moreDOUBLE CHECK THE PRICE OF WHISKY WITH THE BARTENDER. I went here with my brother excited for the opportunity to try different scotch whiskeys. We pursued the menu, which is great, and selected a few to try. Now, when you're shopping for something, price is always considered. Some of the options are very expensive and we went for at least one moderately expensive one. When we went to pay, the price for that whiskey was ALMOST DOUBLE the price on the menu. We pointed this out to the bartender who said the price of whisky changes and there's nothing he could do. EXCUSE ME. Please at least put this disclaimer on the menu. The bartender was not to blame, he said he asked the manager if he could charge us the price on the menu but apparently the manager said no. We decided not to pursue it further because we had somewhere to be. The bartender was nice and comped us a beer. If this is the situation, and we are talking about spending $30 on one drink.... this needs to be explained to the customers. So lesson learned, before ordering a $18 ounce of whisky.... double check the price with the bartender because the price may...
