Blue Giant is some of the best Chinese food in New Orleans! My wife and I went here for a Saturday lunch during the pandemic. First, know that indoor seating was requiring a reservation while outdoor seating was first come, first serve. Reservations were via Resy. They have hand sanitizer at the table, and all employees wore a mask. Blue Giant’s customer service was excellent. They happened to be out of diet coke when we went, but one of the staff ran next door to buy a bottle. We ordered family-style, not that you need to, and split everything. The egg roll and potstickers we're our choices for appetizers. The potstickers were the clear winner! Highly recommend. We then had the Broccoli Stir-fry and Dry Chili Chicken. Both were spicy dishes. Let me preface this next bit with we love Chinese food! We knew we would like what we ordered but didn't expect to enjoy it as much as we did! Both dishes had a ton of flavor—more than I imagined. The dry chili chicken, I believe, had Szechuan peppers in it, so you get a nice ”numb” mouthfeel from the spiciness. Overall, it was a great lunch, and excited to have restaurants like this in the city! I would highly recommend them.

Recommend? Yes. I got the chili cucumber, the fried rice (veganized), the dan dan noodles (veganized), the stir fry bok choy (veganized), and the coconut ice cream. The chili cucumber is a classic that just can't go wrong or get messed up. It was refreshing and great for cleansing the palate for a new bite. Of course this is what I say about all the chili cucumbers because despite them being made different it's the sameness that sticks out to me. Both the fried rice and the dan dan noodles were delicious with unique flavors, better yet flavors I'm not familiar with. The rice and noodle textures were both cooked well to my tastes. It can be hard to accomplish sometimes. And the coconut ice cream was the perfect finishing touch.

AMAZING 🙌 We wanted Chinese and this place was the closest to where we were, so we decided to give it a try. It isn't very big but nice and cozy. We sat at the bar do to limited seating (we did not make reservations). We ordered the pork pot stickers as an appetizer and was BLOWN away. I've never tasted any better and the soy/black vinegar was insanely good, it did a weird thing to our mouths lol Felt like tiny explosions on our tongues or like when you eat pop rocks. So creative. For my main dish I ordered the spicy eggplant which did not disappoint, they were super spicy and delicious! Great drinks. We loved it!

Went to Blue Giant last week specifically to fulfill a Peking duck craving. Having grown up with family in Hong Kong, I was in the mood for something to satisfy my yearning for that Canto-style cuisine, and I knew Blue Giant did a great job of that from my few prior visits there. Blue Giant characterizes the food it serves as Chinese American, and the owners/chefs developed the concept and serve that style food based on their deep love and resepect for that style cuisine. This was my 3rd of 4th time dining in the restaurant, and it just keeps getting better and better.

My go-to must-order is the dan dan noodles. They prepare them perfectly and are the best I've had (better than what I'd order from a typical yum cha/dim sum eatery in Hong Kong even). A dry spicy noodle with spicy ground pork with a hint of peanut. Really really tasty -- Blue Giant knows how to prepare my favorite Chinese noodle dish to perfection.

The Peking duck though was incredible. I had ordered the duck once before in October 2020 (I believe), which found it to be quite tasty. Somehow, Blue Giant improved upon that. The skin was perfectly crisped and seasoned after being prepared for an extended period beforehand in the restaurant's custom peking duck oven -- the only of its kind (to my knowledge) in New Orleans. Honestly, the duck was better than that which I had at the highly regarded Mott 32 -- probably the poshest Cantonese restaurant in Hong Kong, where you have to pre-order the Peking duck due to its delectability and popularity. In fact, that's what I love best about Blue Giant -- the posh 5-star Cantonese food experience but without all the stuffiness of a fancy/posh restaurant. You're just eating really amazing Cantonese/Chinese-American food in a cool, well-designed, laid back eating environment. Hands down my #1 favorite Chinese eatery in the...

If I could give 100000000000🌟 ‘s I would! This place was. FANTASTIC!!! From the moment we walked in the door WOW WOW WOW!!! We were the first table seated of the night as we were the first to arrive and we sat outside on the benches until they opened. It was the most perfect night to sit out with the wind blowing and the slightly cooler temperatures! We walk in and are seated at the bar top in front of the kitchen (which I wasn’t thrilled about) but the nice guy standing next to us ( I THINK he was some sort of chef ninja expeditor dude) he assures us that this spot was the best seat in the house (because Its directly over looking the kitchen and you can watch the chefs prepare their MAGIC (but- I’m going to be honest the duck.. I could have done without seeing those Crispy things with those crispy beaks hanging there 😂 -I haven’t had this dish but i do know it’s a fantastic dish I’m just teasing 😜🤪!! We had NOT 1 but 2 appetizers (YEAH WE GREEDY SO WHAT) we got the egg roll and the pork dumplings YAAASSS LORT 🙏🙌🏼 Both absolutely SOLID !! For dinner we had that CRAZY SPICY FIRED BREATHING CHICKEN 🐉🔥🔥🔥 (we were warned but WE AINT NEVA SKERD) we also had the combination fried rice and HOLY SMOKES!!!! The bomb.com anyway, we were getting very full but i had my eye on the coconut ice cream .. yep... you guessed it.... I got that baby to go!!! Well, we just now ate it and MAN OH MAN! My fiancé is not a sweets person but he was a HUGE fan of that roasted coconut ice cream! Anyway, our server ROSE was fantastic and she LOVES her job!’ Most importantly she LOVES THE PEOPLE SHE WORKS FOR!!! She loves this place and that means the world to me that when I go somewhere and someone actually enjoys where they get to work everyday! That is such a blessing! It was such a pleasure coming here’s thank you so much for everything! This place...

Wow! Great food, great staff, and a whopping great time.

Our favorite seems to be the crispy chili chicken, but everything here has been phenomenal. As a connoisseur of spicy food, this place definitely hits the spot.

The head chef-owner is very knowledgeable about his product and is keenly aware that there are eyes on him. But I can tell you that the chefs have spent hours laboriously studying the cuisine that they are presenting.

Schezuan/Hong Kong style canto food is relatively hard to find in this city. There are a couple places I can name but none of them offers something that pushes the boundary of ordinary.

To be fair, there is a lot of great Chinese food in New Orleans greater metro area, but none that I have been to that has been so daring and innovative as Blue Giant and their team.

On the surface one might assume that it is perhaps "not authentic," but what defines authenticity? Good food, cooked with proper technique and proper understanding of the ingredients for me really defines what authenticity means.

Even food rooted heavily in tradition can somehow lose their authenticity if the person who doesn't understand their ingredients are doing it purely methodically.

I've been to this restaurant twice now, and I haven't had anything that disappointed me. The flavors are so explosive it leaves my palette wanting more.

Don't go crazy and order it extra spicy, because they'll bring the heat if you're willing to sit there and power through the pain.

But I'm Thai. Nothing is more spicier than...
