Woo Chile. I don't normally give a review before I even bite the food but my initial experience here had been so bad that I just had to give a play by play with more to come later.
So I come inside of this place, wanting to some Louisiana bbq while I'm here and let's just say that parking is atrocious to start. Thy building was rustic, and not in a charming way either. I walk inside and walk around what seems like a directionless maze where an employee stood, blocking the way, eating his dinner in a window sill. I finally made my way up to the order window where, after two people standing there said nothing for a full 3 minutes while counting a register, I was told to order "over there". Mind you, nobody even bothered pointing me in the direction of where "over there" was, and I had to figure out our but going to the bar where a register was placed.
After several people in this area made eye contact without anybody even greeting me, ( hell, one person silently stared me down), the lady who told me to come here in the first place told the person who was staring at me that I needed to place an order. I was then grilled as to whether I knew what I wanted. My first question about a menu item that I was interested in was met with "we're out of that. " so I moved on. I said exactly what I wanted, and specifically stated I wanted s pound of it. The response I got was an inquiry as to whether I wanted that on a salad or a sandwich. I repeated myself as she clearly was not listening. Then u asked about another item and was told that they were out of that a well. So then I settled for a couple of sides and decided to just cut my losses on the rest.
Now here's the kicker. When I sat down to wait for my order, I saw a white family standing at the menu board getting ready to approach the register that I was just told was closed. I was going to let them know that when suddenly the cashier who was just counting down the register gave them the friendliest of greetings and took their order. Did I my mention that I'm of color? I shouldn't have to but I have to now. All I know is that what I got better be damned good or there will be a part two to this review coming very soon because the hospitality here is a little too "southern" for my taste, if you get my drift.
Followup So, someone claiming to be associated with this place reached out to be to refute my account off my experience and to say that I must have been mistaken. They asked to reach out to them. I did. I have yet to have heard back from them. So I stand my my...
Read moreGreat place. Great food. JD the GM is helpful, informative & delivers excellent customer service; as does the rest of the staff & employees. Such a pleasant group of people.
Side note: If memory serves me right, I recall this being a seafood market some time ago, B & L or R & L; ehhhh no matter, now CENTRAL CITY BBQ is here & hopefully here to stay.
What can I say, this is a place for ALL THINGS BBQ. The menu is expansive & I'm sure there's something there for everyone. For me, I got the BURNT ENDS SANDWICH & that was a GREAT choice. The meat was super tender & of course the burnt tips were smokey & sweet, ooooooohh so good. I didn't even eat the bun, simply dipped the burnt ends in BBQ sauce & that was enough for me. I also got a side of Mac-N-Cheese, which I LOOOOOOOOOVEEE covered with Bacon Bits, which also LOOOOVVVVEEEEEEEEEEE.
I love the customer service. I love the ambiance. I love the decor, hello little piggy, I see you. I love the location.
Ample room for parking as there's a lot attached to the restaurant itself; as indicated by the signage.
This place has a backyard-like area that can be used for concerts and the like, plus there's a stage as well. Per JD, they're gonna be holding concerts and the like there... WoooHoooo, I can't wait to see when it does. Ooooooooh and one of the shipping containers that borders the backyard area has be fashioned into a BAR... Hello, outside & a bar = WINNING!!!!!!
I'll be going back, sooner than later... there are more things on the menu I PERSONALLY need to try.
Additionally they host the Caribbean Festival and what a great time that can be had. I suggest going after 5ish once the sun is going down.
Great time. Love the kids tent; they make sure there plenty for the kids to do: coloring, ring toss, a blow-up basketball goal and lots more.
The music is great and so are the dancers.
Great place....
Read moreWe got there on Saturday around 11:30, the place wasn't too busy but more people arriving. After studying the menu board we decided to split a 3 meat plate that came with 2 sides and to share an order of brisket bombs, with 2 soft drinks and tip $44. Sounds like a lot but it was a lot of food! The brisket bombs are made of chopped brisket jalapeño peppers and cheese rolled in some kind of bread crumbs deep fried into the size of a pool ball. Once they cooled off enough to eat we enjoyed them. Googey cheesey beefy. Yum. The 3 meat plate was also delicious we chose brisket, burnt ends, and pulled pork. Everything was juicy and hot. I would have liked a little more seasoning on the pork but that's a personal choice. The sides we chose were potato salad and mac & cheese. Again I have to say this is a personal choice, but I would have preferred the potato salad to be a little more on the creamy side, but this one was just fine. The mac&cheese was absolutely delicious. Elbows al dente, cheesey gooey slightly smokey. It's a don't miss just like the sliced brisket. The dinning room inside was comfortable but would greatly benefit from a deep cleaning there is a thick layer of dust on the decorations. Come on yall can afford to splurge on a couple of Swiffers. The staff was friendly and efficient it looked to me me that the A squad was on duty. Everyone knew their role. I live locally and even tho I don't like to travel into the city, I will go back...
