I visited Daisy Dukes Cafe on St Charles Ave tonight and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience that I feel compelled to share with other potential diners. Service Issues: The problems started immediately upon arrival at 8:30pm. The host insisted they closed at 9pm, despite Google clearly showing 10pm closing hours. When I showed him this information, he doubled down on his claim. We decided to order take-out due to them closing at 9pm. However, we watched other customers get seated well past 9pm, proving this was incorrect. The service continued to deteriorate with our order. We requested cheese on one of our Daisy Burgers, which appeared on the bill as both "Cheese $1.00" and "No Cheese" - confusing to say the least. When I asked the waitress to confirm the burger had cheese since we were being charged for it, she insisted we weren't charged despite the clear line item. After I calculated the total myself and showed we were indeed charged, she became defensive and stressed. Rather than resolving the issue properly, she pulled a dollar from her own pocket and placed it on the table, claiming we weren't charged for cheese. When our food arrived, the burger predictably had no cheese. Food Quality: We ordered gumbo, crab cakes, the Daisy Burger, French toast, and eggs. The food was mediocre at best - nothing special and certainly not worth the hassle we experienced. Portion sizes were decent for the price point, but that's about the only positive I can offer. Atmosphere: The restaurant is small, seating maybe 25 people, with a typical casual setup. Nothing remarkable about the ambiance. Bottom Line: Between the incorrect closing time information, the billing confusion, poor communication from staff, and subpar food quality, this was one of the most frustrating dining experiences I've had. I will not be returning and cannot recommend Daisy Dukes Cafe to others. There are far better Southern dining options in New Orleans that actually value customer service.

Nice little hole in the wall place with friendly wait staff. My problem is that half the menu is Benidects and they seem to be incapable of making poached eggs. Ordered the crab Benedict. Biscuit, crab cake and sauce were all good but the first egg was a very slightly overdone. But it had a little runny yolk and was good enough. Getting to the second egg however i found the most over cooked poached egg ive ever seen in my life. Im not a send food back kind of person but I asked if I could just get 1 new poached egg. The server was very understanding and agreed that it was unacceptable. I then waited about 15 minutes for an egg that takes a couple to cook properly so i was concerned about a repeat. The server again swung by to apologize for wait and said the egg will be right up. At this point I assume they probably forgot about the egg and over cooked it again and had to start over. Couple minutes later I got 2 new poached eggs. And brooke them open to over done non-runny yolks. I paid (full price mind you) as the server said she would take them to show the manager. Because it was unacceptable. Apparently still acceptable to pay the full 15 dollars for half an edible Benedict but whatever. Ill be passing on this place in the future. And yes. That yellow ping pong ball on the right is my first yolk...

While in New Orleans I searched for the best Shrimp & Grits. Daisy Dukes kept coming up at the top so I went. While it’s not printed on the menu I was assured they do have it. It came and I was immediately uninterested in eating it. The dish appeared like they just sauté the onions & peppers for omelettes and throw some shrimp in and pour over grits. It lacked flavor, absolutely nothing Cajun or NOLA about it. It was full of cheese and very disappointing. I had high expectations from the photos shown by other patrons well this is what mine looked like. Not an ugly plate but not tasty either. I would recommend you stick with the regular breakfast item and dont go here specifically for shrimp & grits. My server was excellent and she was quick and efficient. No wait, easy seating and turnover. It’s a cute spot for a quick filling breakfast. Just not shrimp & grits!

A trip to New Orleans should be filled with culinary delights and those that will make your palate sing.  This place may not have made my mouth sing but there was definitely a few soulful notes.

As I wanted to keep my diet somewhat intact, I elected to get the garden salad and added fried shrimp.  My friend got the seafood platter (shrimp, fried oyster and fried fish).  We elected to get it to go and to eat back at the hotel.  We were faced with a to-go order or waiting behind multiple people in line at about 11am or 12pm.  The wait time was fairly quick after I ordered and we were out fairly quickly...I had time to run across the street to the liquor store.

My friend's oyster were slightly overcooked, AKA burned.  The fish was good (I tasted it) and my shrimp was really flavorful.  As has been noted in many  of my reviews, I HATE HATE HATE when hot meat is thrown atop what is mean to be a fresh element, like a salad.  The cheese on this "garden salad" was melted and steamed. Especially when you have iceberg lettuce, it can be hard to get through with "smoked greens".  I was hungry, so I ate it.  FYI, I did ask for the shrimp on the side but it didn't happen.

One positive I will give is that you got  lots of shrimp for the $5.50 upcharge and it has a "Loozana" flavor which was a welcome surprise.  I also ordered a side of the onion rings which were just alright, considering they were a bit soggy.

Final summation, I was able to eat this meal in two sittings because of its size, so overall it was an...

I have NEVER left a review good or bad for a restaurant. However, this place was soooo bad I couldn’t help myself. Let’s start with the server.. she walked up, didn’t introduce herself stated “I can take your order” without every asking what drink we wanted. Ordered our drinks and food I asked for pineapple juice and she brought a sprite back. I then said I asked for a pineapple juice.. her response “oh okay” then left. When the food finally came out almost an hour later my meal was wrong. Yet again, she did not apologize or even show an ounce of concern. The entire time we waited not once did she come to check on us or mention why the wait was taking so long with less than 15 people in the entire restaurant. Once the food came out all the meat was burnt except the bacon. The hash browns were so oily and the grease was clearly old. It was TERRIBLE. We didn’t even eat our meals. atmosphere was just as bad. All the workers Walked around with a clear expression that they did not want to be there. They openly complained about stuff while walking next to the tables with customers, there was construction going on in the back so it was extremely loud drilling taking place (I understand needing upgrades but don’t do them while people are trying to enjoy a meal.) it just seemed so unprofessional and it was the worst experience I’ve ever had a restaurant....
