We were in New Orleans celebrating my Husband's Birthday- so on the evening of his day - i wanted to take him somewhere special for dinner. I asked the Front Desk Agents working that Evening and they gave us 3 suggestions, Trenasse was close walking distance from the hotel so we chose them. The Restaurant is located on St. Charles St. The Hostess greeted us with a smile and asked if we had a Reservation ( which is needed ) and i said no- we were out of towners and didn't think to do - as we walked straight down from our hotel. She said no problem and escorted us to a very nice table with a rap around view. The Ambience was romantic, beautiful and fun. Our waitress Nizel was AWESOME 👌 👏. . Her Recommendations were spot on - she enjoyed celebrating my Husband's Birthday as much as we did. Definitely five star service! Trenasse is blessed to have her. The menu has so many stellar options. One of the best in NOLA!! We had the on the house pork skins-- the Out of the blue and Titos 🍸- the Shrimp and Crab Bienville Oysters, Buffalo Frog Legs, Blue Crab Bisque, Taste of Trenasse with a side of Crawfish, Pan Fried Redfish Meuniere, and the Strawberry Short Cake. Everything was Delicious 😋 perfect taste, perfect seasoning, perfect temperature. One of our best celebration meals. Lastly the prices were reasonable and competitive with other high end Restaurants. Our complete meal excluding tip was $176.32 -- for cash payment- if you pay with credit card they do add a small fee around 6 dollars. We did card so it was $183.37. P.S. Tip the recommended or more - you...
Read moreI recently dined here and while the restaurant itself is clean and well-maintained, the food and service left much to be desired.
Food:
Oysters – I ordered a dozen, but the sizes were inconsistent. Some were large and fresh, while others were tiny—so small my fork couldn’t even grab them. A few also didn’t look fresh, which was disappointing.
Fried Boudin – Completely bland and tasteless. I couldn't eat it at all. When I mentioned this to our server, he said he would inform the kitchen. However, I later noticed it was still on our bill, and we weren’t offered a replacement.
Fingerling Potatoes – Absolutely delicious! The best dish of the night. I enjoyed them so much that I ordered multiple servings. Highly recommend! (Some came out burn though..)
Fried Brie Burger – It was decent, but I’m not convinced the five pepper jelly pairs well with it. The burger includes other sliced cheese in addition to the fried brie, which was a nice touch.
Complimentary Fried Pork Skin – This was my first time trying it, and I discovered it’s not for me. Also, the butter served alongside it didn’t complement the dish at all.
Service:
Unfortunately, our server was not very helpful in explaining the menu. He seemed distracted or unengaged, which was disappointing, especially considering this restaurant is inside a hotel, where I expected a higher level of service.
Pricing:
Be aware that the restaurant has different prices for cash and credit card payments, which wasn’t clearly...
Read moreMy partner and I came here May 2024 on a whim our first night in New Orleans. We had no idea where to go, so we just went walking and found this place. They had a sign out front for Happy Hour that said "Stink Juice" which piqued our interest.
The atmosphere was a very comfortable, casual wine bar vibe with that New Orleans flair. We each had entrees and dessert, plus my partner tried the Stink Juice (it was not what we expected but still good, very grapey.)
I should have taken pictures because this was the best meal I've had in a VERY long time. My partner got the Rockefeller Oysters, Crawfish Pie, and Bread Pudding. He was very satisfied with his meal. I had the Scallop Maque Choux (menu description: pan roasted sea scallops, braised pork belly, sweet corn purée, crawfish hush puppies.) and then the Pistachio Gooey Butter Cake with Strawberry Coulis & Chantilly Cream.
I literally started crying the food was so good. I went to culinary school but had lost my passion and love of food over time. This single meal relit my passion and reminded me why I went to culinary school to begin with. I've thought of this meal often since our trip and can't wait to come back to taste more.
Overall a wonderful experience and must from now on when we come to New Orleans.
For reference on pricing level, I'd say pretty mid-range. My meal was $38, dessert was $8. Husbands was $30, dessert was $10. Overall total was $116. Not too bad for the quality of meal and...
