I’d describe it as a unique experience. I give it mixed reviews and let me explain below:
The GOOD: You’re boarding a historic steamboat. The narration given by the captain is quite informative and generous. The boat has different seating areas so you can enjoy the views, or immerse into the “guts” of the ship by stopping by the engine room. It is fascinating. Inside we got live music from a trio which was delightful and put heart and soul playing dixie music and other hits. Our waitress was so polite and on top of making sure we were fed. The ice tea was great. I want to make sure I share that!
The BAD: The hosts and check in staff could learn to be nicer. They act disengaged and that draws down from the whole experience. Although i know the ship is old, it does not feel well maintained. You step in and instead of a charming dining room, you get this 1970’s feel, with basic tables and not so comfy chairs. The AC feels inadequate, with spots cooling nicely while other spots are muggy. The store is simply “SAD” and dead. It’s needs to be revitalized. The food is not very good, I’m sorry. The fish was dry and the only thing I enjoyed was the jambalaya and potato salad. I could tell the rest of the people were not impressed by the food by the look on their faces. You know…
Overall we enjoyed it because the experience is so different and unique, not both staff and interior design could be...
Read moreBoarding was easy enough. We were shown to a table. Drinks were brought. Live jazz/blues band played in the back of the room. The buffet line was open, so get food at your leisure. Baked chicken, green beans almondine, chicken gumbo and rice, and jambalaya. All tasted wonderful. During dinner, we departed the pier. The trip was 9 miles down the Mississippi, and then 9 miles back to the pier. After we finished eating we were allowed to roam the ship. The engine room was amazing. There was a story place where a captain was telling stories about the history of the boat and the river. Three different bars were open. There was also a gift shop. Getting off of the boat took a bit of time, but it wasn't bad. The only issue I had, was the length of the trip. It needed to be longer. Had fun and the food and...
Read moreI liked the ride and the staff treats you very well. I only recommend buying it online first because it fills up and if you want a buffet it sells out quickly. I recommend you only buy the normal one without a buffet, since the buffet is in the middle of everything and you don't see anything, because it is already closed. Better buy the cheap one and there are thousands of sunless places to sit. Just like you listen to music and they explain...
