Let me begin with entering the lobby. I should have known something was wrong because there was an unpleasant scent. Maybe because the A/C was not working at full capacity. So then there is the person behind the desk, the one with no name badge on so you don’t know if she’s housekeeping or front desk. Once I check in…I’m handed a paper with hotel info on it. “Photo uploaded” once we get to the 15th floor, the elevator door opens and we were met with immense heat! The a/c in the hall was broken. We get to our room and there is a big separation between the door and the frame. Once we get in the room, the water pressure from the faucet is a trickle. The air appeared to have just been turned on. So we wait. We wait . It wasn’t til around 7:30 am the next day we heard the compressor kick on. By that time, we were headed downstairs to get another room. The front desk girl was very nice. I want to send a shot out to the second floor housekeeping too. They had mad energy. Loved them! Back to the next day. We go down to return the batteries that we received from the nice girl because the tv remote was acting up. Since no one showed up to replace the batteries the day before. Then we get to the room and needed a screw driver for the remote. Merciful Heavens! We then got the nice girl to give us another room. I hate to tell y’all, that room looked better but the a/c needs to be replaced throughout the entire hotel. I AM WARNING ANYONE THAT IS THINKING ABOUT TRAVELING TO NEW ORLEANS DURING THE SUMMER…DO NOT…I REPEAT…DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!! So the next morning I graciously go to the lobby hoping to see the nice young girl and to my dismay, it’s DONVAN the manager. I walked up to the desk and he was on the phone. I walked up just to get his attention. I need to describe this in detail and this all will make sense. He was sitting on a stool or maybe leaning some kinda way with his elbow on the counter. I walked up. He looked straight in my face and stared. I placed the batteries down and he turned his eyes back to whatever he was looking at. I then came back with my husband. I asked him about those fees. At this point. I see a hot pink sheet of paper in some kind of stand up frame on the counter stating what the $29.05 destination fee is for. I literally went back upstairs. Packed and headed out. Yes I did check out. I told Donvan (no name tag so I’m guessing that’s how he spells his name) if I had known about the fees per guest, I would’ve stayed at the or Marriott. He said him too. So I’m telling anyone that is particular about hotels, read all of the negative reviews. Take heed. I’d read them but I thought they would’ve read them too and made some adjustments. NOOOOO! Also, I would like to point out that I never saw one maintenance person the entire time I was there. Last thing, as we were going to to the hot box room, there was a gentleman dressed in all black posted in the elevator area on the wall. Because no one wear name badges, I thought he was maintenance. No mam..he was someone that thought he was gonna get on that elevator with us..he saw my face with the look of “I wish you would” and politely asked if he could catch a ride up with us. I said absolutely not. You need a key son! I called the desk person that was sitting in the lobby with air pods in her ear but the phone on speaker…help me Lord…to tell her that this guy was trying to access the floors in the hotel, she was annoyed prolly cause I interrupted her conversation. Chile…this has been one for the record books. I checked Expedia and it looks like they have removed this location from their site..Praise God!!! Now don’t yall think for one minute your experience will be better…just note…YOU...
Read moreI personally will NEVER stay at ANY Wyndham property again. We were in NOLA for an impromptu weekend trip and decided to book the property located at 301 Camp St. Our first red flag occurred when we inquired about an early check in. The guy who answered the phone acted like we were an inconvenience to him. I let that slide because we all have our days. Next we discovered the phone that’s listed online for the property is actually an employee’s personal cell phone.
Upon arrival the staff was super friendly. The girl at the desk asked for my license plate number ( I assume to enter into their system) , had me fill out paperwork then fill out a pink parking slip. I asked if everything was good on my end and she assured me I was good to go. I even double checked after parking my vehicle. I would’ve given them 4 stars at this point despite the garage being VERY compacted and a nice 3 minute walk away with NO elevator.
We stayed for two nights and we should’ve just stayed somewhere else. Our fridge was not working properly and we didn’t discover that until our food was room temperature the morning of check out. The microwave was missing the plate that the food rotates on. The room remained hot no matter how low the air was set to on the thermostat. We shared a handheld fan to get through our last night. Our shower had a moldy curtain and the tub was stained with rust and filthy like someone had just washed themselves. Pillows were stained on both beds and the bedding was not the best.
The hallways were hazy and smelled foul. The sink water was almost scalding and the actual shower was lukewarm. The toilet bubbled like a witch's brew at weird hours of the night. Our toilet did not flush for our first night resulting in me having to leave my room at 2:45 am and use the restroom in the lobby. I was on one of the higher floors so that was an inconvenience. Maintenance was supposed to come but after waiting almost an hour I opted for them to come in the morning. I would’ve let all this go since we just used the facility to lay our heads. You get what you pay for anyway. I would’ve given them 3 stars at this point.
Here is where they dropped to 1 star. When we checked out there was a boot on my car. My sister informed the valet and concierge of the issue. They were very apologetic and kind. They went to get a manager for us as I was still with my car. She showed the manager photographs of everything and he informed her the employee talked to him about it when we arrived two days earlier.
We never were informed despite them knowing our room number and phone number. They both would break their necks to speak to us as we entered/exited the hotel but no mention of our parking. Even after I double checked with this employee. So at this point I’m very angry. He flips it on me saying I wrote the wrong number down. In all actuality I followed the instructions his employee gave and verbally gave her the information she needed when asked. When I tried to fill out the form in its entirety she said you don’t need all that. My sister told them they needed to take the boot off or refund us. The manager was very nasty. He sent somebody to take the boot off finally but not before he told my sister “ I’m getting the boot off and this conversation is over”. I was livid at that point because this all could have been avoided had they did what they needed to do. So if you like horrid hotels with filthy everything, shaky staffing and piss poor parking this is the spot for you. Book at...
Read moreThis very LONG review is coming late since we stayed on Labor Day weekend, and I even thought about not posting but please read this as a warning when you stay here or any hotel.
We came for Labor Day weekend. I chose LQ since I have been a rewards member since 2017, earned points, booked stays on points and usually the rooms are comparably priced.
My husband and I checked in late since we drove in from Texas. All was fine, got my pink tag for parking down the block and was advised to leave our car out front to offload our bags to the room then park the car. Great. My husband and I did just that. Front Desk rep was super helpful, kind of chatty and it was a decent experience.
The following morning, we missed the free breakfast and opted to go across the street to the little diner spot for coffee and food. We left the Do Not Disturb sign on the door since we didn't want anyone in our room. I switched purses, took my ID and debit card, erroneously leaving behind my credit card and some cash in the room. It was not in plain sight. We were gone about an hour, returned to the room to freshen up - housekeeping was across the hall cleaning another room, only to find my credit card and said cash missing. Whoever took it would have had to go into into my bag that I left on the dresser, open my wallet, then take out my card and go looking in another pocket of that bag, open it, and find some cash in there also. As soon as I realized what happened, I locked the card online, searched the room and the other bag I was carrying to make sure I hadn't misplaced it. Nothing was found. We went downstairs, after leaving the DND sign a specific way on the door (and we took a picture) to ask for the manager. The young lady at the front desk did not look shocked that we were reporting theft from our room, but a manager promptly came out and I told him what happened. He stated that the employee keys would be locked down - assuming that the card activity can be tracked. I have no idea if anyone was held responsible.
Not even an hour after locking the card, someone tried using it at a local store. Joke was on them though; the almost $800 they tried charging declined. I had to give a written statement and also provided email screenshots of when the card was locked and my bank also sent emails of the attempts. The manager was respectful of us and the situation and did take steps to rectify it and improve our stay, which I do appreciate.
I'm writing this as a warning, not for this hotel, but any hotel... be super mindful of what you leave in your room and of your surroundings. While NOLA was a great time, I did spent a lot of my stay worried and wondering if I was being watched in the hotel. I did not particularly enjoy having to take pictures of my room each time I left to make sure our belongings were where...
