DISGUSTING!! MOLD AND HAIR!! Went 2 times in the same weekend. First visit I went in a party of 2 and Trisha served us, she was wonderful and pleasant but food took a while. There was obvious mold behind corner of a picture frame.
The 1 star is for the NEXT DAY: was excited bc I was here the day before and liked it so came in a party of 12 at noon. No other parties waiting to be seated. The host laughed at us when we said 12, we were quoted 30 minutes- great! We were expecting close to an hour but nope, we got seated in about 10 minutes. Party was split up but not anything to get upset about. The issue was, our server was also the host who greeted us poorly, came to our table after maybe 10 minutes after being seated- by that time we were ready to order. I was ordering and he kept asking questions but I wanted to add tomato and onions to my omelette and only was able to tell him before he moved on to someone else order and his response was “Why didn’t you tell me that?!” Well I would have but he wouldn’t let me speak!!! My friends are a couple, one doesn’t speak English so she ordered for him, and the waiter goes “he can’t speak for himself?”. Same couple is ordering a lot of food, waiter tries to move to next persons order but they aren’t done ordering so his response “dam, you’re not done ordering??”. When our drinks came, a bald white guy came and apologized for his attitude. Food came out close to 45 min after, before the couple put one plate down, she noticed a HAIR IN HER FRENCH TOAST!! (not pictured). I sat across from them and could also see it so she mentioned it to the waiter and before he even LOOKS at the plate, he goes “where?! I don’t see nothing” and takes it back like we’re lying about it?? Another person finds HAIR IN THEIR JELLY!!! The same couple was now super careful about the food, we all were… looking over all our food to make sure no more hair. The non English speaking guy turns his biscuit over and A HAIR IS ON THE BOTTOM SIDE!!! It looked like a pube. Everyone lost their appetite. We asked for a manager. Manager came out 10 minutes after asking, with a entree that the girl in the couple had been waiting over an hour for and before saying anything she goes “we already took it off the bill” and tries to walk away but we ask her if she’s the manager and she reluctantly NODS yes with an annoyed look on her face. We tell her about the 3 HAIRS IN OUR FOOD and she doesn’t apologize or say anything… but walks off. We double checked the bill, it’s the portable electronic register that the waiter stands and waits for you to process your card. The non English speaking guy never received a coffee he ordered so we had to get that taken off the bill, and we’re making sure nothing else is wrong with the bill and the waiter goes “YES EVERYTHINGS CORRECT JUST HIT PROCEED AND PAY!” And you can tell his tone was fed up. Ended up paying a total $180 (6 people) for food we couldn’t even enjoy. I literally stopped eating my omelette when the 2nd hair was found. I had only...
Read moreFinally made it to one of our bucket list destination cities the weekend of September 21st. We're Eagles fans and were part of the green wave that took over that beautiful city that toasty weekend. We were astounded by the charm, history, culture, and openness of New Orleans. The food was amazing. The music was perfect, and options were plentiful. Will make it a point to visit as often as possible. We checked in to our rental condo a block away Friday morning and Ruby Slipper was recommended by friends. From the moment we walked in, proudly wearing our Eagles green, the staff began with some good-natured smack talk but also the most gracious hospitality we can remember. The host, Jamal, was quite polite and professional in welcoming us, and provided us seating right away and introduced us to our server, Remy. Remy offered not only suggestions from the bar and kitchen but also provided a quick rundown of things to do (and not to do) while we were in town. He was the one who suggested the street cars may be a good and reasonable option for the plans and activities we had. One of the staff members "Q" made it a point to come introduce himself as he defended his beloved Saints honor in front of this "hostile" Philly crowd. Meeting Q was one of the most enjoyable parts of the experience and is someone you'd love to have sitting at your Thanksgiving table. We laughed and joked about the game coming up. The food and drinks were amazing. I had the hot honey chicken on a bed of roasted brussel sprouts which was served on a bed of cheesy grits. Absolutely delicious. We all agreed that we'd be back every morning during our stay... why tamper with perfection? We went back 3 days in a row, and every meal was amazing. I don't throw the word "perfect" around all that much but Ruby Slipper on Burgundy meets that criteria. Along the way we met Michelle, Jeanette and Terri who were all as delightful as the rest of the staff. Long after we forget about details of this trip....what we ate, the songs we heard, and the score of the game (a 15-12 win by the Eagles BTW) we will remember the hospitality that we received all over but none more so than by the warm, friendly and efficient staff at Ruby Slipper on...
Read moreI'm not too keen on writing bad reviews . . . but sometimes there's no getting around it. I wanted to like this place. A friend recommended it. Walking up to the building, I was stoked. An old bank converted into a cafe. In truth, that was the highlight of the entire Ruby Slipper experience . . . because then I walked in. The inside of the place isn't as interesting as the outside. But hey, I'm no interior designer. We were sat in a corner table and eventually got an order in. The place wasn't very busy, but it got busier as we sat. A few tables sat and quite a few people went to sit at the bar. I got the feeling that was where the regulars congregated, maybe cos it was easier to get your waiter's attention there. I only saw my waiter when he took our order. A runner brought out our food. I was missing a side, so I guess my server never heard me order it. Ah well. My omelet was okay, nothing spectacular. My friend said the same about the benedicts he ordered. We sat for a while keeping our empty plates company . . . and waited for our server to drop the check . . . or check up on us . . . anything. It never happened. I got tired of waiting and strolled out the door while my friend went up to the bar to get our check and pay up. I didn't ask him how much he left for a tip. Why rub salt in his wound. He did mention outside that he was handed the wrong check first, and was given the correct one after alerting whomever it was who took care of him. What a way to start a Wednesday morning. I'm giving one star for the architecture and one star for a female server who I saw trying to help my friend...
