Even though I'm a local I've been having a lot of firsts this year involving dining experiences in NOLA. This was the first time I've been to Tacos and Beer on St Charles and tbh I was not disappointed at all. The hostess was very nice and seated my gf and I right away. Our waiter was also nice and also very funny and efficient. The food was excellent and so were our margaritas. I ordered the tacos (brisket, Chipotle chicken, beef tongue, and marinated beef) and also the large Chambord Frozen Margarita. We went during Happy Hour but we were charged the original price for the large margaritas which were $14 a piece. Then again they are very strong and as big as your head so not much of a complaint there. Also, for the appetizer we had the queso dip that had the seasoned meat in it ... that was absolutely delicious. My friend had the Chimi Chincon and she said she loved it. All in all it was a great experience. We went on a Monday evening so the service and atmosphere was on point.

nice & convenient spot. went on a saturday night with 2 friends and it was super packed!!! the restaurant itself isn’t huge on the inside, but there’s also som outdoor seating. overall, service was fine. food was good. only issue i had was with the tacos i ordered. i ordered 3 street style tacos (onions & cilantro on a corn tortilla with your choice of meat). i picked asada, birria, and shrimp. my shrimp taco came out with some chipotle looking sauce, cabbage, and tomatoes. i asked my waitress if i could just it it the street style way. she informed me that the shrimp is the only one made differently...but went ahead and had a shrimp one made the street style way (the way i ordered). the menu doesn’t indicate that if you get shrimp on a street style taco that it will be made differently, and i told her that. hopefully they’ll make some changes to make customers aware/ bring clarity to the way they do it. besides that, had a fine experience.

We ordered the quesabrirria tacos and what we got was an insult to Hispanic culture. Beef that clearly was not stewed in birria spices. Tasted bland. Absent of any spices or flavor. Furthermore was chewy. Last I checked, there's supposed to be queso on a quesobirria taco... but you tell me. Lastly, a birria taco should have the tortillas grilled in the birria stew juices and have some of the stew juices drizzled on the taco. This isn't rocket science. Just look at this bullshit. On what earth is this a quesobirria taco? $36 dollars later and I cannot believe how far this place has fallen. Fire whoevers in the kitchen and get a real Mexican homie back there. I could have gotten more flavor at taco bell. For those of you who made it this far, Google a birria taco and see for yourself what it *should look like and be.

So I’m gonna give tacos and beer a rating of one star I’m gonna give the one star because sometimes the food is good and Sometimes the food has to be remade because it’s not hot or fresh, now don’t get me wrong. They make some good food but having your food served to you, not hot or fresh is a problem And on top of that i’ve been to tacos and beer multiple times over the last year and a half and then some bringing people there and all, just for me to go there yesterday and I tipped the server a specific amount and she added 17 extra dollars on. I was able to go and speak to the manager or whomever it was that answered the phone. They did not apologize. They did not say sorry on her behalf or anything, he seem more frustrated that That we were coming we were coming back to get our money back after it was taken from us.There was absolutely no reassurance, that it was gonna be taken care of when it came to the server Who tipped herself and that is the main reason I’m not returning because if you come there as a customer, you want reassurance that it’s gonna be handled. (she was a very petite young girl , Kind of tall with very dark hair). It gave like this was a normal and natural thing that happens and he was pissed off that he had to give money back. I will not be returning even though like I said the food is good here and there And we spend money every single time, like our bill was $70 yesterday but the audacity for people to think it’s OK to take from people because they feel like they think they deserve more is a complete note for me so we will not be returning. It’s all about respect and honesty and as a business if you don’t have that people need to know about it so they...

Went to eat lunch at Tacos & Beer yesterday. I had a hankering for some real tacos, and after reading some reviews online, I decided to check out Tacos & Beer. They were woefully understaffed - two people working the entire dining room, bar and outside seating areas. Honestly, I can forgive being understaffed and wait staff not having time to give me much attention, but if that's the case, being nice really makes up for allot. And they just weren't. When I wanted to move from the table that was by the door because the cigarette smoke was really coming in, the server made a face like I was being ridiculous. Since there were plenty of empty tables, I was just trying to be polite and let them know that we were moving.

I ordered a side of guacamole with my tacos but decided after about 15 minutes of waiting that I would like to have it as an appetizer. Problem was I couldn't get anyone's attention to ask for it. Finally I hailed a server, and she went to get the guac, but brought out our entire order with it, which was fine. No chips were served with the guacamole. We asked for some when she delivered our food, and she said they would be out in a minute. Not sure why she couldn't just bring them to us right then. It took the time to eat our entire meal before the chips came. And did I mention through all of this they just weren't very friendly?

I rarely write reviews, but this place has the potential to be really good, because the food was excellent. Management needs to make sure that their staff understands that they are in the service industry and that they really need to be nice to their customers and apologize if things are beyond their control. And maybe they need to hire...

Tacos and Beer – Disappointing Experience

We recently visited Tacos and Beer in New Orleans for the second time, and unfortunately, this experience was far worse than our first. While our initial visit on a Tuesday wasn’t bad, this time around, it was a disaster from start to finish.

First, we arrived to find a massive line—about 40 people deep—waiting to get in. Since we were already there, we decided to tough it out, but it took over an hour just to get seated. Once we were finally at our table, we were ignored for another 20 minutes before even being acknowledged.

We tried to ask for help multiple times. The hostess, a short girl seating tables, acted as if she didn’t understand English when we inquired about our server. When we asked a busboy if he could get the manager, he dismissively told us to “go get him ourselves” and pointed to where he was. That alone was a major red flag about the service here.

Eventually, after another 20 minutes, a young woman with braids—who had walked past our table at least 20 times—finally took our order. The food was decent, but by that point, the experience had already been ruined.

It’s clear that Tacos and Beer caters mostly to locals who are used to the service (or willing to tolerate it for the cheap tacos). However, if you’re visiting New Orleans, I’d strongly recommend staying away. Yes, they have $1 tacos on Tuesdays, but they are not worth the long wait and horrible customer service. It’s evident that this place doesn’t prioritize its guests or care about providing a good experience.

Verdict: Not worth it. Skip this place and find somewhere that values...
