I have visited this coffee shop several times over the past year. Each time, I get the feeling that I am unwelcome here. The food is good and the atmosphere is fine. It's the way the staff interacts with me compared to the customers before and after me that is confusing and completely unacceptable.
Other customers are greeted, treated cordially, and given what I consider excellent customer service. While when I get to the front of the line, each and every time no one says a word to me. I have to ask if they are ready to take my order. No staff member has ever said thank you or have a nice day to me. Yet I observe them doing this with other guests.
During my most recent visit, I was again treated in this manner. I find it to be rude and completely lacking in customer service skills. While I waited for my to-go order, drinks were being made and names or orders were being called out for pickup. When I noticed several customers who ordered after me had received their orders, I approached the counter to ask about mine. I had to ask, as again no one gave me any recognition whatsoever. It turned out my order had been ready for sometime and was just sitting there.
Why the staff here treats me this way when they treat others well is something about their character I will be looking to figure out on...
Read moreUsed to be a regular even though I always felt uneasy because they treated me (white) much differently than my husband (Black) but had to stop because:
Baristas don’t know how to make a drink. They burn espresso and use the wrong milk. When I have asked them to remake it in the past, it was never a problem. However the one time my husband makes that same request, they refused to remake it for free and said it wasn’t their fault. So they charged him even though it was their mistake and then they poured a hot drink in an plastic cup meant for iced drinks. And the barista handed him the cup as it was melting from the hot espresso with a smug smile. What did he do to you to deserve that?
The station staff needs DEI training because micro aggressions like that is why the clientele (and staff) are very homogeneous despite being in a chocolate city. And it’s also why I will never ever return despite living so close I can see it from my house!
P.S. staff doesn’t wash their hands between handling money at the register and making your breakfast sandwich. Once, I watched a cashier pet a dog and then handle an egg patty with their bare hands without...
Read moreDOG OWNERS BEWARE unless you’re coming here with another human who can stay outside with your pup while you order inside, then don’t come here. They report to have a “dog park” which is their claim to being dog friendly I guess - which is basically a place to clip your dog’s leash to unsupervised + outside while you go inside to wait in line and order. There’s no way I’d trust leaving my dog outside with no one ensuring she’ll be there when I get back - nor does it make sense most months of the year when it’s way to hot for that. Only ordered a hot Chai latte (which was average) because I was rushed out of there quickly - why? because I walked in holding a 6.5 lb adult dog (who made zero sounds) to a “dog friendly” place to order to-go and subsequently upset the staff. Servers were clearly annoyed I didn’t know their “dog friendly rules” even though it was my first time here. Had the service been warm/kind, I’d likely have been back to try food another time when I didn’t have my dog. Unfortunately, that...
