I've heard so much hype for this place. I was finally in the area and gave it a shot. The location is spacious, clean, and full of clientele. The service was really good and friendly too! Too good to go got me in here and they explained how their pickup goes. I was surprised with the $10 boil bag. Figured $5 Chinese food was a good add-on too. Food smelled good and I took it back home to Queens.
I was impressed with the variety in the boil; it had big shrimps, baby shrimp, some clams, abalone, a cluster of dungeness crab, a cluster of blue crab, a large prawn. The boil mix was good, the food, everything except... The blue crab. I went into the kitchen to try to break it. Confused by a strong odor, I thought maybe it was an old sponge, but it was coming from the crab. I didn't realize it till I split it and tried to eat it. It was basically mush on the inside and it had a taste I can't even begin to describe. I've never had crab like this before. I was concerned with it being boiled along with everything else.
I understand that 2good2go is an "end of day" food/leftovers deal, but that crab was dead and rancid long before I ever showed up. It's disrespectful to try to pass that off as edible and still try to prey on people's money with rotten food. It's better to not even participate in the program before you get someone very sick.
I'd love to come back, but I'm definitely turned off from my experience. Even if the service was nice. The noodles were good. The spare ribs were okay. 2good2go folks, you've...
Read moreAs someone who's spent over 20 years working as a cook, I have a keen eye for what goes into my meals. The other day, I placed an order at a restaurant for two dishes: Whiting with french fries and jumbo shrimp with pork fried rice. However, instead of Whiting, they served me cod fish. Now, I have certain dietary restrictions, as certain fish species can cause me discomfort, such as codfish, which can give me a rash.
I can't help but wonder if this restaurant operates by cooking whatever is about to expire, assuming customers won't notice the difference. as someone familiar with different fish varieties, I can tell you that there's a distinct texture and taste difference between Whiting, tilapia, codfish, and catfish. codfish, for example, has thick, white flesh and a unique flavor profile that's hard to miss.
if you're ordering from this place, I advise you to double-check your order and make sure you receive exactly what...
Read moreThe lady at the front didn't know anything about the "Too Good to Go" app. She told me to ask a random customer who is young to look at basically shooing me away and misdirecting me telling me thats "no thats Chinese food" when it clearly has a chinese food menu behind her head on a big screen. I left the store giving up ready to dispute on the app but I saw a young man who worked there coming into the store and And I went in and I ask him, he knew about the "Too Good to Go" app. The lady dismissed me like I wasn't a paying customer. I was able to get the food with the help of the guy that I paid for, which was a hassle. She was NO help at all with her nasty attitude. She was rude. If this was a neighborhood with fewer minorities and a certain ethnicity, she would have changed her tune and accommodate. This store won't ever get my...
