Abe’s Pagoda is an amazing place nearby that always reminds me of home (Florida) the atmosphere is reminiscent of an Asian inspired genre of tiki, which shows the owners are educated enthusiasts! I’ve never written a review but I feel I have to! I love this place!
The staff, is a bit of your run of the mill bushwick bartenders, which isn’t bad! They make good/strong drinks! They just aren’t really interested in much “tiki talk” or really educated on it as much, one time I asked for a zombie and one of the bartenders didn’t know how to make it even though they make a virgin version on their menu haha! They are very nice and very friendly though!! And some do make great conversation regardless!
The food genuinely brings me to tears, I get the chicken bowl everytime, it always has amazing presentation! It’s the one thing I can get in NYC that reminds me of the food at home, Id like to see more Polynesian food! I’d also love if they’d put more pasta in and less rice but that’s a personal preference haha! All of their food and drink is top notch!
Thanks to the owners for having a tiki bar...
Read moreI don’t come here often. This bar can be pretty cool but I’ve been noticing a pattern with one of the bartender’s working tonight. He’s always extremely rude off the bat and tried not to serve me and other people of color multiple times, on different occasions. All of this while treating non-people of color with respect and good service. The time before this he almost ruined our friend’s celebration before it even started. Its like if you’re brown all you have to do is appear for him to get upset and straight up nasty. I’m not sure what’s going on here but tonight made me feel pretty sure that he is racist. Sad that this is being allowed in an establishment in Brooklyn. For reference, he was wearing a white t-shirt that said “all hail (something I couldn’t see)”. I didn’t even realize that until after I wrote this. Won’t be visiting again any time soon, and if you’re like me I suggest you...
