I've seen this place on the Internet and how popular it is in Florence. I found out they had opened one in NYC but hadn't had the chance to try it until one day, we needed a quick bite to eat before a broadway show. This was perfect because it was quick, and it was close to the theater. So we stopped in on a Tuesday at around 5:30 and there were probably only 2-3 people there. It did start getting crowded when we left at around 6:30. The place is pretty small but does have a few seats where you can enjoy your sandwich. When you walk in, you order at the register and then wait for your sandwich by the fridge area. I ordered La Schiacciata del Boss (prosciutto toscano, pecorino, truffle) and added arugula. It's a giant sandwich so make sure you ask them to cut it in half ahead of time, because they don't do so unless you request it. I would say the sandwiches are too big for one person but not enough for two people. My husband and I shared one and wanted to order another one afterwards but knew we would be too full if we did that, so we opted out. The sandwiches are also pretty pricey, at $17 a pop, since they import all of their ingredients from Italy. It was really good and packed with ingredients,, but it's definitely a once in a...
Read moreStarted in Florence( Firenze) and now in NYC! Well now that's what a true globalization looks like isn't it? This place is located near the Port Authority Bus station and is hardly a 10 minute walk from there. I've heard about this place a lot .. well, actually their original one in Florence through YouTube vlogs so thought of giving it a try here!
Coming over to the restaurant, it's a small shop with very limited seating options but is usually crowded! The menu has both the vegetarian and meat sandwiches! The service is quick whereas the music and the ambiance make the vibe interesting.
I wanted to be on the safe side hence experimented with 'The Broadway'. It's a sandwich which has stracicella, pistachio cream , sun-dried tomatoes, spicy zucchini and aragula. The focaccia bread was really crisp and awesome! All the ingredients added were fresh and that's what you call a sandwich! The price though is a bit on the expensive side and can be balanced by adding a bit more quantity of ingredients in the sandwich helping it to feel less bready.
Overall, it's a good one but given they add a bit of extra filling inside the sandwich, it'll be even better for being...
Read moreDecided to crawl out of my apartment to have some fun and try this place out. I've been wanting to go and initially wanted to wait for someone to go with me but after seeing multiple videos, I decided to just go by myself. I am so glad I did. I went around 3pm which was great because there was no line out the door. There were people in there ordering but it took no more than two minutes to get my order in. The staff was nice and friendly. I got the Schiacciata del Boss. Took only a couple of minutes for them to prepare it. Luckily there was a place to sit along the window so I could try this sandwich immediately. The first bite was absolute heaven. The bread was soft and warm. The prosciutto was salty, delicious and well complemented by the pecorino cheese and truffle cream. I ate half at the spot and the other half at home. What I loved about this sandwich too is it didn't sit on my stomach like a stack of quarters. It had a lightness to it. I'll definitely be back when the occasion...
