Alphabet Scoop is the best MF ice cream in New York, maybe in the entire world. "What??" say you, "How can this random dude on the internet say it's the best in the world?" I'll tell you why, three simple reason:

It's tasty AF. It's thicc, it's creamy, it's sweet but not too sugary. It's so full of flavor. You will never go back to any other "sugar with a hint of flavor" ice cream after trying Alphabet Scoop, believe me.

Prices are ridiculously cheap, and their super friendly staff always fills it all the way to the top. Portions are literally huge, even the kids size portion.

They're not just any old ice cream. They're a charity organization, working as part of the nearby church. The provide food for the homeless on the weekends. They employ young adolescents from the poor areas in the lower east side, kids who are at a constant risk of ending up on the street, and who are sometimes the only breadwinners for their family. They give them a place to work and stay out of trouble, a salary, and a fun, not to mention sweet, environment to provide them with positive influence. In short, they're doing amazing work, one that all food providers should learn from.

I'm a frequent customer and I will keep coming back there even after I move from the east village. They haven't just sold me ice cream, they have won a place in my heart.

Btw I'm eating a tub of Alphabet Scoop ice cream...

The ice cream at Alphabet Scoop isn't terrible, it's just no better than the average supermarket freezer section ice cream. The chocolate chip cookie dough had so few chunks of cookie dough, it seemed like they were skimping to save money. The lack of chunks accentuated the dullness of their vanilla flavor and I wound up throwing it out, as did one of my companions. I never leave bad reviews, but precious money was wasted here. This place is a head scratcher considering the many great options in NYC. Everyone deserves a second chance though, and I'll try it again when I see a trend of reviews that note substantial improvement.

Kudos to Alphabet Scoop for supporting teen jobs. For that reason they...

Alphabet Scoop is a sweet little ice cream shop that’s tucked away off the main street, but it’s absolutely worth it. Honestly, I’d rather support a small business like this than the big-name chains any day.

The staff here is amazing, super friendly, helpful, and quick to offer recommendations. They greeted me as soon as I walked in and even let me sample a few flavors. I ended up going with the salted caramel in a waffle cone, and it was delicious. The ice cream is on the creamier side and the scoops are generous, so even the kids’...

Extremely generous portions of ice cream with great texture and flavors. They allow sampling and the prices are quite good. 3 scoops is close to a pint if not more but is still every bit enjoyable. Knowing that the profits from this shop are used to train, mentor and benefit the youth in the city makes the experience sweeter. Sprinkles are always free. I had the razzle dazzle (raspberry chocolate truffle and vanilla ice cream), dulce de leche and chocolate salted caramel. The razzle dazzle and dulce de leche were quite good.

I swung by here after dinner one day for a sweet treat and it was nice. The interior of the shop is small and there is minimal seating; it's definitely a grab and go spot. Service is very nice. Unfortunately, when I went, there was no sampling available so I had to just pick a flavor and wish for the best. I ended up choosing strawberry ice cream and it was solid. The ice cream here is really creamy, milky, and a bit stretchy/thick (if you know that I mean). Not a bad spot for ice cream in the area.
