I came here with my partner on Vday. We made reservations and were super excited due to the high ratings. We were seated at a table that still had the previous table’s drinks on it.. she took our order with the drinks still on the table and I had to ask her if she could take them as she walked away. We ordered Tea and the veggie plater for 2. Our food came out first and I had to remind the server that we ordered tea. When we got our food the food was cold. I brought it up to my server but she insinuated that we’ve never had Ethiopian food before (we eat Ethiopian food regularly) and that “no customer has complained before”. Being that they were unwilling to reheat our meal or send us out a warm meal we attempted to suck it up and eat the food but it tasted old and under seasoned. I politely let her know that we would not be eating the food (we both had 2 bites) and she insisted on arguing so we just left and went to Abyssinia instead and it was much better...
Read morePlease boycott this place until they start obeying with the laws - Complete disrespect for neighbors on 123rd street. They dump bags of trash nightly on the sidewalk which has made the corner slippery and disgusting. They don’t care that neighbors complain and don’t follow NYC law. They also leave their cellar doors open for hours on end. I have gone in and complained as I saw a small dog almost fall into the hole and they just don't care, so disrespectful to the neighbors of the restaurant. It's so dangerous - someone is going to get hurt! Close the cellar and clean your sidewalk.
After months of complaining - still no action! Why is this restaurant so lazy and rude to the neighborhood. CLEAN UP your block. RATS are everywhere at night due to your food scraps & grease. It's unacceptable. They say they can't use their garage can (it's the law) because "it's locked" - unlock it or get a new one and start...
Read moreI cannot recommend Awaze highly enough! I recently ordered from them for a work event, and not only was the food absolutely delicious, but the service was exceptional. The injera was perfect—light, tangy, and the ideal complement to all the rich and flavorful dishes. Every single item was prepared with such care, and you could taste it in every bite. What truly set Awaze apart, though, was the incredible hospitality. The woman coordinated everything with was so warm and accommodating—she even personally delivered the food to our office to ensure everything arrived fresh and on time. That level of generosity and care is rare and speaks to the heart of Ethiopian hospitality. If you’re looking for amazing Ethiopian food in NYC, served with genuine kindness and a personal touch, Awaze is the...
