The party of 5 that I was with thought we got lucky because there was so many empty tables while the other restaurants around the area were busy. It didn't take long for us to realize that there was a reason why this place was empty. After 15 minutes of sitting, I had to grab a waiter to come to our table. We placed our drinks at that time, 4 of the five drinks were delivered in short order. So we placed our food order, after a while, 2 of our 5 food orders were delivered, those two were wrong (wrong fries). They did bring the correct fries in a few more minutes and we were told the rest of the food was coming. The two with food were able to finish their entire meal before we received the other 3 meals. The waiter came out a few times and promised the food would be there in 5 minutes max. 15 minutes later, he said it would just be a minute. Close to an hour after the first two meals were delivered, the rest of us received our food. I was amazed how it could take that long to deliver cold food. After we had eaten about half of our meal, the waiter came out and asked if there was anything else we needed. Well, we still were missing a Coke, so I asked for the manager. A lady showed up at our table, this lady did come by earlier to fill our water but had said nothing to us about our wait or anything at all. So I asked the water lady who was now standing by me if she was the manager, she said "Yes, that is why I am standing here". Now it all makes sense, bad management must be consistent here which leads to poor staff service. We explained our situation, she offered us a free round of drinks, which we declined, she did discount our ticket 50%. We didn't receive an...
Read moreI genuinely think the tipping culture in the US has become so normalised that staff don't even care anymore about providing a good service and still just expect a tip.
The place advertised both outside and on menu as happy hour till 6.30, no mention of any days that it's not valid.
Sat at a table and when no one came over to us for about 10 mins I went up to order. Waited another 10 mins before the drinks (a glass of wine and a beer) were poured, just to have to go back up and collect them.
We later ordered food and another drink, food came very quickly by what seemed to be by a seperate group to the bar staff. Never got the drink so had to go up and ask for it again and bring it back to my table again.
Once finished, asked for the bill 3 times, and watched each time as the staff just went back behind the bar and started chatting to their colleagues. Eventually just had to go up to the bar again and request it in person.
Not only were we charged for an item we didn't order, but also nothing was given at happy hour prices and it all turned out to be twice the value of what we were expecting to pay. When I asked we were told it was only Monday to Friday that this was the case.
And I'm still expected to give a tip for this? I basically self catered myself for everything, got virtually no service, and charged double for everything.
Back in Ireland, you order a drink, they make it straight away, bring it to the table for you, and never expect a tip.
Only positive thing was the...
Read moreI used to be a regular at Beckett’s bar and grill until they switched things up, jacked up all the prices, weakened the drinks, decreased portion sizes, and hired disrespectful bartenders and wait staff. Our bill came out to $80 worth of undercooked chicken wings doused in what felt like a pound and a half of sugary sauce, soggy unsalted fries, weak flat beer, and a measly two packets of condiments for the table. Beckett’s used to be THE SPOT after pulling 12-14 hour shifts back to back on Saturday’s and Sunday’s. Back when Barry was the bartender, Beckett’s was a gathering place post shift for my team and I. Always nice to see a friendly face behind the bar. Nowadays, it’s a different environment chock full of sarcasm, disrespect, and body odor. When I informed the waiter about the issue with my food, he coldly said there’s nothing he can do about it except for send out another order. By that time, I had already been there for an hour plus and started to feel a bit queasy after eating undercooked chicken. I just wanted to begin my long commute home.
