Bedouin Tent – A Cozy Middle Eastern Gem on Atlantic Avenue

Bedouin Tent is a charming, on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn, well known for its comforting Middle Eastern cuisine and unexpectedly popular pizzas. It’s one of those neighborhood spots that feels authentic and welcoming, with a laid-back atmosphere that makes you want to linger.

Atmosphere & Setting From the outside, the restaurant looks small and unassuming, with just a few tables in the main room and an open kitchen where you can see the cooks at work. The real surprise, however, is the backyard garden, which offers a much larger seating area. Decorated with vibrant Middle Eastern fabrics and colorful touches, it has an intimate, cozy feel that many diners love. Especially on warmer days.

Service Guests are generally welcomed warmly and treated like regulars, even on a first visit. The service is straightforward and friendly, with staff happy to answer questions about the menu. While it’s not a formal dining experience, the hospitality is genuine, and small touches, like being offered complimentary mint tea at the end of the meal, make the visit memorable.

Menu & Food The menu is not overly large, but it offers a well-balanced variety of sandwiches, soups, pizzas, and traditional Middle Eastern plates.

Lamb Shoulder Plate: A standout dish, served with fragrant rice, hummus, or baba ghanoush (you can get both for a small extra charge). The lamb is thinly sliced and cooked through, perhaps a bit well done for some palates, but tender and flavorful for those who prefer it that way. The rice is spiced just right, making the plate hearty and satisfying. The hummus and baba ghanoush are different from the Turkish or Persian versions, earthy, smokier, and distinctive in flavor. Fans of Mediterranean food will notice the difference, but many find it refreshing and enjoyable, fresh pita bread baked in-house and perfect for scooping up dips as served with the dish.

Pizza: One of the restaurant’s surprises is its pizza menu. The shrimp and tomato pizza stands out, generously topped and layered with a flavorful sauce. The crust is a matter of taste, those who like it thin and crispy Italian-style may find it softer than expected, while others love its texture and flavor. Either way, it’s a unique offering that blends Mediterranean flavors with a classic comfort food.

Overall Experience Dining at Bedouin Tent is not just about the food, but also about the ambiance and authenticity. It feels like a neighborhood staple where friends and families gather. The portions are generous, the prices reasonable, and the backyard setting makes it feel almost like a hidden oasis on Atlantic Avenue.

Final Thoughts Our experience was excellent. We came in for a late lunch before heading to a show at the Beacon Theatre, and Bedouin Tent turned out to be a perfect stop, warm hospitality, flavorful food, and a relaxed vibe. With its combination of traditional Middle Eastern dishes and unique pizzas, it’s the kind of place worth returning to, whether for a casual meal or to introduce friends to something a...

Oh how did it took so long to write this. This has been one of my two go to spot for Mediterranean food in NYC because if their food, service and price.

Food quality is out fresh and delicious which probably the only things you needed to make it outstanding. We usually order sun-dried tomato pizza, definitely their salad mix and a meat or veggie entree to share. Btw that is for two people and it is plenty and filling. Mix salad you can pick 5 items and I suggest beet and grapeleaves roll. Hummus usually comes with your entree. Sun dried tomato pizza can be a hit or miss because they over cooked mine once but no big deal as burn cheese is heavenly. You definitely need to try other pizza as well such as lamb. Their cheese and spinach roll is always a thing I love to order but I place it at top 4th. I usually get one if I have friends joining us. Entree I would go for their lamb dish or chichen rice wrap up in a naan (ask them for the name).

Price has went up a bit over the time but usually cheaper than most places in the area except McDonald's. For a table of 2, you can walk away with a full belly and weight $40 less. Usually most dishes go for $10 to $14 thou. Btw they don't serve alcohol and bybo isn't an option anymore. But do call them to confirm.

Service can change if busy or not. Usually takes around 5 minutes to get your orders in and about another 10 for food to be served. You should be voice your need as they can be busy. Seating is limited to around 20 inside and outdoor is summer only. Backyard is lovely but can be some mosquito like everywhere else. I probably get one bite every time I am there in the back yard.

Do give this a try if you are near by. It's a...

This review is for large parties only. The food is amazing (full stop), I'm a longtime take out customer and I love it here... so much so I thought I'd host a special work party here bc their space is casual and homely, they are kind and were so accommodating during the planning process. Unfortunately, during the actual event, they abandoned us completely. No service whatsoever, left food on plates and I and several colleagues had to clear dishes and take drink orders. In the middle of the actual dinner, even though we confirmed menu in an email prior, they told us they would only offer us 4 very specific items, not the ones we discussed. It was just so disappointing and all I can make of it is that they simply cannot handle larger groups (we were a group of 20). They had plenty of staff, but simply didn't know what to do with us. No drink orders were taken, no welcome, no introduction of the (new limited) menu). No help whatsoever. It was like we rented their patio and they just helicoptered food in. My colleagues and I literally fended for ourselves with platters they piled on side tables. They never came to clear any dishes, so my colleagues and I had to pile plates on the floor to get them off the tables. It was really disappointing. They even kicked us out at 8:30PM (started at 6:30PM), even though they didn't pace food appropriately. Dessert was thrown into to-go containers as we were hurried out the door. It was a sad mess and I feel embarrassed. Just come...

This place is as authentic as it gets. Wow. Family from Jordan creating delicious delicacies right here in Brooklyn. The falafel was fabulous. Different then Israeli falafel and still so delicious. We also got the zatar bread and some Chummus. They are not afraid to use proper amounts of spice and flavor. The Chummus was absolutely real and delicious. Nothing else added. Creamy and perfection. The pita bread was perfectly cooked in their oven so much so that you want to touch it to your face. (if you don't know what I mean go there and you'll see) fluffy and pully and exactly the right amount of chewy. There's also a nice area out back to sit if you want. We got our food to go as it was a gorgeous day. We will most certainly visit again when we are in the area. Also we checked out with the loveliest man (unsure if owner) who chatted with us about our trip to Jordan and was so pleased we were trying his food. This place is awesome. Finally able to eat at the location. Got a plate of salads and falafel and lamb. All were fantastic. I highly recommend the tehina in addition to the hummus. Such lovely staff also. Next year I'll be back again when I'm in Brooklyn
