I placed an order on the grubhub app March 25th for 3 bagels with various toppings which came up to $11.98. After a few minutes I made a call to the Bergen St location because I wanted to add something. A man with an Indian accent answered, added to my order, and he told me the additional food was $9.55, then we hung up After giving it some thought I was curious to know how much the additional items cost individually because I thought $9.55 for sandwich and box OJ sounded off. So I decided to call back to find out the prices and as soon as I asked my question the person who took my order hung up the phone. I was shocked at the way he just hung up on me, so my boyfriend called back to find out what the issue was and if we could just receive the prices. The guy hung up on my boyfriend as well. At this point I was highly upset and since I live nearby, I decided to take a walk to the store. I spoke to the manager Raj about the situation and the treatment I received over the phone. He behaved very nonchalant about it almost like a "yeah, yeah, yeah" attitude, as I'm explaining my issue with the lack of customer service. I've lived in the neighborhood for over 5 years now and I've visited both locations throughout the time I've been here. I think they have a great competitive advantage in the products they offer, however, I will not support a business that lacks respect for...
Read moreThe bagels are mediocre and I've only been going there out of convenience because it is the bagel shop closest to me. However, at this point I'm so fed up with them getting my order wrong that I don't think I will be going there anymore. My order is wrong about 90% of the time.
Ways they frequently get my order wrong: • I tell them NOT to toast my bagel, they do it anyway • They put the wrong cream cheese on my bagel (one time they put a fruity cream cheese on my bagel with lox -- gross! Who would ever order that??) • I ask for tomato, and in addition to the tomato they add either onion or both onion AND capers (I hate capers and even if you take them off, your bagel will still taste like capers. Also, while I do like onion in my bagels, I do not like way they do it. They cut the onion slices so thin that they become stringy and have no crunch at all. Onions are dirt cheap so I don't understand why they cheap out on the onion like this.)
The only pro to going there I can think of is that if you do like capers, they won't be stingy. My bagel was absolutely covered in capers.
If they could just get my order close to correct 50% of the time I'd be happy to continue...
Read moreSo I came here two weeks ago as part of the last day of my weekender trip in Brooklyn. As part of the NYC culture, there's something that distinguishes NYC bagels versus that of any other bagel in the US. Coming here, I only had one other experience for NYC bagels at another fellow bagel place in Brooklyn. Just when I thought that place was really good (had their Nova lox), this place one-upped them on that. Having the nova lox on a toasted NYC everything bagel, you could only imagine how this would taste. In addition to setting the stage with the everything bagel, their nova lox (or cold-smoked salmon) with the cream cheese, red onions, tomatoes, and caper really destroyed me, like seriously. If you are coming here to order this, or even another bagel sandwich, you better be having a large stomach because these sandwiches are huge. So if you don't, you might want to just have your sandwich split with a friend/family member/colleague unless you want to save the other half for later when you get back home! Definitely will be...
