Prices are on the higher side now (around $12.50 for a pita, $14.50 for a wrap or sub, and $16.50 for a bowl), so it’s not quite the budget-friendly shawarma stop it may have once been. Still, portions are decent and the quality of ingredients is clear. Also for a bowl, the total came out to $19.06. that is about 15.5% above the stated price. I paid with a credit card but even with a 4% credit card fee it doesn't really make any sense. I was in a bit of a hurry so I didn't get the receipt but should have been more careful about what the extra charge was for as I didn't get any extras. The food was pretty good.

I’ve been a frequent customer at Shawarma Mia for the past year and have always enjoyed the delicious bowls. Only writing this publicly because they have not answered my emails. Unfortunately, in the last few months, there’s been a steady decline in quality. The lamb and chicken are unappetizingly fatty, I’ve even had to remove the fat prior to eating in the last 4-5 bowls I’ve ordered. The chicken lacks taste, is chewy, and the sides no longer has that beloved flavor diversity that initially attracted me to Shawarma Mia. I’m writing this in hopes of seeing improvements in flavor and quality soon.

Tried the lamb and beef bowl. Everything was fresh, and the service was friendly—no complaints there. First few bites? Solid. Flavorful, well-seasoned, promising start. Then… I just kinda stopped enjoying it. Maybe it was me, maybe it was the bowl, maybe it was the sauce overload (which I definitely should’ve asked for on the side). By the halfway mark, I was pushing food around more than eating it. That said, I can tell they use quality ingredients and care about presentation. If you’re into this style of food, it’s probably better than most spots doing the same thing. Just not totally for me.

First I will start with the positives. The food and ingredients are very fresh, although the lettuce was not fresh. This vaguely tastes Americanized and not authentic. I stood there for 5 or 10 minutes while the employees ignored me and took 3 or 4 orders for people that I was ahead of in line. The employees all were scrambling and it was very disorganized. When i paid, one of the employees snatched the money out of my hand (I paid cash).

The portions are very small, the bowls have so little rice, you barely can tell rice exists. The food was bland tasting, but again, the ingredients were all extremely fresh, aside from the lettuce.

Park Slope and Prospect Heights cannot get falafel places right for over a decade. Pita Pan is no longer the same quality. Bedawi Cafe is no longer the same quality. The Olive Vine locations in Park Slope and Mr. Falafel, now THOSE were great falafel places.

The combination of rude, frantically rushing employees and small portions make this not worth it, as well as the food tasting bland. There have now been about 4 or 5 Falafel places within a block of here (some across flatbush) that have come and gone in the past decade or more, and all (including Shwarma Mia) serve tiny portions and charged too much. And they all were...

I bit into a piece of raw chicken at this restaurant—fully raw in the center, not just slightly undercooked. When I brought it to the staff’s attention, they brushed it off like it was no big deal and accused me of lying—until I brought the dish out and showed them the raw chicken myself.

This wasn’t just a kitchen mistake—it was a serious food safety issue, and the lack of accountability made it worse. Serving raw chicken puts customers at risk, and responding with denial instead of concern is unacceptable.

I won’t be returning, and I hope no one else has to find out the hard way that this place doesn’t take health and safety seriously.

The staff member I spoke with had a shirt that said “Charlie.” This happened on 5/2/2025, in case anyone else reading this had a similar experience or got sick around...

This place is on another level!! I've been eagerly awaiting it's opening for several months and today was the day I went in. I had a feeling it would be good, but didn't expect to be instantly floured the moment the chicken hit my mouth as I often need to let my first bite marinate for a few before determining whether or not I'm a fan. Anyway, here's the list of things that inspired me to write a Google review - something I never previously fathomed doing.

No topping limit generous with toppings VERY FRESH a bunch of toping choices everything is wonderfully seasoned the portions are nuts - my bowl weighed more than a newborn and now I get to enjoy my $15 meal over the course of 3 meals. - -Talk about value The staff is quick...
