If going deaf and being witness to a crime is your thing, then by all means, step on inside this place. I've only gone here twice to see if a friend was there before a Yankees game, and both times walked right back out because I couldn't take much of it. The atmosphere is nice and the staff are nice (save for the bouncers who seem to pick and chose who to card/be friendly with). Prices go from bad to worse (I think the prices go up during or right before the Yankees games start, or so I've been informed). It's has very spacious back room with two long bars and lots of room to stand around, and has TVs and projector screens up for all to watch the game on, but with music so loud you can't even hear yourself think. I very much dislike this place because of the crowds it brings in. The first time I've walked in there, I bore witness to a large, most likely very drunk, man take a full on swing at a woman and deck her in the face. Right then and there is when I walked out of there and told my friend I'd meet him outside. Another time, I poked my head in there to meet a friend and instead saw police coming in to deal with a situation and once again walked right back outside. I don't know if this was a coincidence or a common occurrence, but with the vast array of clientele being the types of people I much rather not associate with, I'm banking on it that this type of stuff happens often, and often enough to keep me from wanting to go there unless I have to. Reminds me of some frat-filled beer hall in...
Read moreWATCH OUT FOR THEIR UNDISCLOSED CREDIT CARD FEE WHICH IS REALLY A TIP!!
I was here recently with a large group (+20 ppl) prior to attending an event at Yankee Stadium this month (Aug'23). I opened up a bar tab and when I went to pay I noticed that there was a CC Fee (credit card fee) for $94. There were no signs and no one mentioned that using a credit card fee would incur a charge prior to opening the tab. I asked the bartender what the fee was for and she said she had no clue, that she could get a manager but that would take a while. Very convenient given we were in a rush to head out. I called numerous times until I was finally able to get a hold of a manager. I explained the situation and asked what the breakdown of the fee was. He admitted that it was a credit card fee AND tip! Basically they charged me a $94 cc fee, $3.76 (4% was the actual cc fee) and $90 went as a tip. This was on top of the $100 tip I had already added. This place is as shady as can be. Most folks are double tipping and don't even realize it. I've been to many other places where they alert you that they have a credit card fee or have a visible sign behind the register. It's also no where near a 20% fee! If the tip is already included then DISCLOSE THAT INFORMATION so people aren't double tipping. PS- Someone in our group ordered downstairs and got charged a credit card fee of $37....she didn't catch it and also...
Read moreI visited Billy’s Sports Bar on 9/11/25 after attending the Yankees game.
The line was long but manageable, and my friends and I got in without issue. After having a beer, I stepped outside to get some air. When I tried to return, the bouncer refused to let me back in and simply pointed me to the back of the line without explanation. When my friends (who also had open tabs) came out to help me back in, he refused them entry as well.
I questioned the logic of this policy and asked the bouncer why he was acting this way. Shockingly, he responded by punching me in the jaw twice in front of other patrons and staff. I’ve since pressed charges against this individual.
What makes this worse is that I’ve tried reaching out to Billy’s directly to resolve the matter, but they have ignored every attempt at communication. Rather than acknowledging and addressing the serious misconduct of their employee, they’ve chosen silence.
I used to be a huge fan of this place, but after this experience, I can’t support an establishment that allows violence from its staff and refuses to take...
