Had a lovely tea time at The Parlour to celebrate a close friend's birthday. The service was top notch. It seemed like there were three people attending to us - the main server, someone else to bring the tea, and the maitre d, who would check in on us to see how everything was going. The selection of teas was fantastic. There are also iced teas. We chose The Grand Heights which allowed us 90 minutes to try as many of their teas as we wanted. Note that time can go really fast when there, so keep an eye on the time, if you plan on trying a good number of teas. Everything was beautiful - the decor, the place settings, teacups and teapots, etc. The selection of sandwiches that were included were delicious and fresh as were the dainty desserts. The crumpets were nicely crispy on the edges, and the carrot ginger soup that came with them was really good too. The scones were just okay, but the lemon curd and jam that came with them helped. If you're there to celebrate, you can order a tiara for the celebrant, which I did. They present the tiara in a beautiful glass stand with lid, so it looked really special. You can bring the tiara home. The weather outside was in the low 70s, and inside The Parlour, it was a tad warm but not too bad. Overall, we had a super time and will definitely be back to The Parlour as well as their...
Read moreThe food and tea were good but boy, they really start booting you out about 15 minutes before the end of the time you pay for: plates taken, to-go-boxes and cups delivered. I ate the rest of my scone off the table because they took my plate away before I was finished. We paid for the most expensive service in order to have 90 minutes and before the time was even fully up, they came over with coats on to tell us they were closing. This wasn't a cheap experience to feel like we were bothering the staff by staying for the duration of our reservation.
High tea is meant to be a relaxing, luxurious treat-- not a "ok, please go now" situation. If you pay for 90 minutes, please consider cleaning up after that time so we get the time we paid for. It's a matter of staying a few minutes later at work, I get it--that sucks. But that 15 minutes would have been the difference between a good experience and the one we had--we left talking not about the tea but about the service. With other choices in the city, I wouldn't return here...
Read moreMy teenager and I have a tradition of afternoon tea every time we visit NYC for the last nearly 10 years. The Parlour-Brooklyn High Low has been our absolute best tea service by far! Since COVID, it has become increasingly difficult to find any place (we haven’t been) that has a GF option, and again—The Parlour takes the cake. All the GF substitutes were delicious and with only a few small exceptions, exactly the same for me as they were for my teen. The tea selection is OUTSTANDING! We both found one we liked so much we purchased some to take home. Service was excellent and attentive, and everyone was so friendly. Ambiance was amazing! So cozy and peaceful! We absolutely will try the other location next time...
