Friday 1:30pm

The atmosphere is minimalistic without any decor theme in mind it seems, and it was kinda cold

The service is alright wish someone would have asked if the food was okay but not a biggie

Their quiche is amazing at only 6$ and it's a big cheesy slice! I convinced my friend to try it and he loved it.

I got an avocado toast for 10$ it was disappointing and upsetting. The guac is clearly from packaged amd doesn't bring anything else on it. it looked and tasted just like the guac you get from a store for some tortilla chips except it was thinner and more sour. It made my stomach hurt and so I didnt finish it. The regular degular white toast bread was soggy/limp, and cold which didn't help. I left upset cause i shouldn't have given the toast a chance to eat as much as i had in order to have them take it back. and honestly nothing pisses me off more than paying for food that leaves a sour taste in my mouth (literally). Now im just waiting to get home and drink something to...

This place is an instant 5 out of 5! We got an oyster mushroom… croissant (when they ask if you want it warmed up, say yes!), a cinnamon roll croissant, breakfast burrito, B.E.S.T, vegan hot chocolate, and rooibos tea. The burrito was so well put together, like it was packed and held well, with just the right amount of everything. It hit all notes on texture and flavor. The B.E.S.T was better in every way than anticipated, the biscuit really hit the spot. The hot chocolate was also just right, not too thick or creamy, not overly sweet or dark in chocolate. I’d get everything again.

We were in the area looking for a brunch spot. I had “Qathra” on my list, I have no recollection why or how it’s on my brunch list, but it is. Figured why not come here to this Blue Star Parlor which seems to be the same place based on other reviews, can always ask if it’s halal. So we did. And they confirmed their food is halal! Can’t wait to come back...

I’m leaving the neighborhood soon and one of the hardest parts about that is saying goodbye to mornings and afternoons at Blue Star. What a wonderful place. The owner, Mr. Sherman, and awesome staff make delicious drinks & food with kindness and warmth. The space feels exactly like what it is: your neighborhood cafe. Inside is a little moody while the covered outside is bright and truly accessible in all seasons. I’ve spent countless hours typing away out back (free WiFi!) and countless mornings making a quick stop for a reliably great coffee or tea and a slice of rich quiche or muffin top snack. Everything is worth it, but I especially love the herb omelette, breakfast burrito, mango oat muffin, chocolate chip mint scone, and quiche of the day. If you go in the summer, you’ve got to try their black iced tea with cardamom syrup. I’m sad to leave Ditmas Park and especially heartbroken to part ways with Blue...

I used to come here for breakfast from time to time when this place was named Qathra Cafe. I stopped in recently to see the rebranding of this cafe and to find out if anything has changed from my last visit. Even though I liked the previous menu selections, the new options seem just as good, and the lattes here are always on point. They bake their pastries right on the premises, and everything is reasonable priced. I ordered the Passion Fruit Pancakes, which were on the small side, but they came out quite tasty. The waitstaff here was and still is friendly and accommating. The only critique I have is that the place needs a bit of a touch-up inside. Otherwise, the place is clean. Overall, in my opinion, the rebranding wasn't really necessary, but I enjoyed my recent experience, and I will most certainly stop in again in the future.
