Instructors are great! Have never had any issues with quality of instruction. Administration and office personnel on the other hand are very slow to respond to emails, seldom answer the phone, kept my wife on hold for 25 minutes to answer a simple question. Good luck scheduling your “free” Spash-In (which you can’t just splash-in for it MUST be scheduled).
One email that I sent to "info@swimjim.com" requesting to schedule a Spash-In was responded to by a human requesting that I email "notifications@swimjim.com." I found this to be pretty off-putting, as my previous Splash-Ins were scheduled via info@swimjim.com, and also, why would a human take the time to tell me to send my request to a different mailbox instead of just scheduling the class.
We probably would have enrolled for years if the administrative component wasn’t run so poorly. We even got offered a “complimentary” splash-In with the caveat of registering and paying a $35 registration fee. Funny, that’s more than the value of a single class! I am confident that swim lessons are less painful on a parent’s organizational abilities and wallet with other organizations.
UPDATE--SwimJim's owner, Jim, came to our "Spash-In" class today to personally address our concerns. This was subsequent to an email exchange with an administrative staffer who told me that my son could not participate today because Spash-Ins were no longer offered during this term's enrollment (despite my already paying for them from last term, and not being enrolled this term). I responded that "our son would be attending today's class, thanks." So the owner, Jim arrived personally to greet us. Jim allowed us to participate in today's class (which I paid for in my initial enrollment). I still strongly feel that we should be compensated for the trials and tribulations we have endured with SwimJim's customer service team, we have tentative come up with a resolution for forwarding our relationship. I will follow up with another post updating on the outcome of our situation.
Update #2–Julia from customer service reached out regarding make up classes. Customer service has gotten much better. swim babies curriculum is a better fit for my son...
Read moreI was so excited for my son to go to swimmig lessons and for what I thought was a such an affordable price. The classes are advertised as $50 for the month but in actuality they are $50 a lesson. I specifically asked the staff at Fort Greene if I had paid for the entire month or just one lesson. They assured me I'd paid for the entire month, so I continued to bring my son to lessons. A month later I checked the app to make the payment for the next months lessons to find that I'd been charged an extra $171 for the classes from the previous month. When I called to ask what had happened they then told me that I originally only paid for one class and not an entire month. I am a single mom that has to budget for everything I do so this was a huge disappointment and set back that they had given me misinformation about something this expensive. YMCA does an 8 or 9 week swimming class that is only $171 for the entire 8 or 9 weeks and not $220 for one month and they did not give me misinformation about price so they could bill later. The only reason I did not give them one star for this is because the lessons themselves were such a fun activity for my son and I and he actually learned in the 4 weeks. SINGLE MOMS & PARENTS ON A BUDGET DO NOT BNRING YOUR CHILDREN HERE.TAKE THEM TO THE YMCA AND IF YOU DO BRING YOUR CHILDREN HERE DO NOT CALL THIS LOCATION OR ASK THIS LOCATIONS STAFF ABOUT PRICING INSTEAD CALL THE OFFICE NUMBER AND BE VERY SPECIFIC SO THEY CAN NOT MISINFORM YOU AND BILL YOU LATER.
Thank you for the response Keli. I am going to start him in the course at the YMCA and if it is not a good fit we will revisit the swim jim idea, now that I have a clear understanding of pricing. Be sure that your staff knows, so that if another parent like me attends classes and asks about the price they are not misinformed and billed for...
Read moreWhen I signed up my daughter to this place, I was very excited as I checked all the wonderful reviews. Yes, the lesson was good. The problem was I commuted 40 minutes to get 5 the place is disgusting. As soon as you walk in, you can see the moldy concrete on the sides of the pool. Then, I went to shower my kid as we normally would at GOLDFISH. To my surprise, one shower was put of order and the other two were not draining. The walls are covered in mold and you can clearly see the mold is old. Not like someone forgot to clean the day before. All the cubbies have rust in them and the floor is nasty. They charged almost $400 for what? I called this morning to let the management know about the situation and I was told they can't do anything as SwimJim only charges and they aren't aware of the maintenance of the installations (the lady kept blaming the building management) I mean, what sense does that make? You are charging on time and nobody is making sure the place is clean and has all it needs. Or that at least is clean. I saw no kids taking showers there, and it makes sense why no one has complained. Maybe they just go home and don't have to shower there as they probably live in the neighborhood. I can't do that as my daughter will get hives if she doesn't wash off the chlorine immediately. I am extremely upset about the whole experience and wonder how parents are okay with this. (The stuff on the walls is not just the wet concrete, it's...
