I first discovered this place last month. The first time I had it was the best & had me coming back. Quite pricey at $5 for chausson aux pommes however I was willing to pay. I've been back about 3-5 times since then & it's been a disaster since. The chausson aux pommes have mostly been filler with air & no apple at all. I even got one today & not only was there no apple pureé but the little pureé seemed like it was water down & didn't even taste like apple at all no exaggeration, just water. Please make enough pureé & share it evenly between all the pastries because I've wasted my money each time buying air. For that price, they should be perfect each time. It's happened atleast 3 times to me so I had to address it...There is another French bakery in the neighborhood & their chausson aux pommes is filled with a beautiful amount of pomme pureé & beautifully flaky pastry (which is another thing that I could complain about but I understand that sometimes the flakiness may be harder to achieve so I was willing to overlook that). The only reason I gave two stars was because of the cashiers that are always lovely when I come in.

I came in for the baguettes, and they did not disappoint! Not to mention, they had the cutest little points on their ends. I’ve never been to France, but this baguette may have taken me there. It’s more of a takeout place than a dine in cafe. Pretty popular when I went around 1:30pm. Right across from the elementary school makes it a hot spot for kiddos and their parents.

The almond croissant belies a terrible secret; beneath its mantle of bible page thin buttery layers, beyond its outer core of almond paste sits an obscene inner core of thick, delicious gnashy chocolate. This is a crunchy, airy delight, destined to be a mainstay of many a lazy Sunday morning breakfast ritual around Park Slope.

Came in on a Friday morning in search of a really good, hearty loaf of bread. Very friendly staff member recommended flaxseed loaf. It was the best bread I have ever had. Crust was perfectly crispy, not too tough, absolutely loaded with seeds. Inside was perfectly soft, which is so nice and maybe surprising on multigrain bread? Properly salted also. I am amazed that this bread was made in America, and not Europe. I can't wait to try all of their other bread.

Good price too. Thank you, you made...

Such a shame. Really wanted to like this place after all the good reviews. Unfortunately, the Gallette des rois was undercooked! Translucent pastry is a no no anyone who watches a baking show knows this. Also contained hard bits, my dad thought he was going to break a tooth! Croissants remind me of the ones you get prepackaged at a deli. Will be returning to our tried and true...
