For this birthday dinner session, there were 6 of us with a reservation on a Saturday at 6:30. It didn't look too packed then but it got really busy at around 9. You should deffo make a reservation either way.
To start, we had some of their white sangria (the birthday girl gets what the birthday girl wants) which I hated. It tasted like watered down juice. I would not recommend it at all. You should just stick to a nice red - it is a steakhouse after all.
They also give you some bread for the table. I didn't have any because I wasn't that hungry and I was trying to save room for some steak. But everyone else at the table seemed to really like it. They threw in some caprese salad on the house, which was a nice touch.
For our meal, we decided to just order a bunch of things and share it. Here's what we had:
Shrimp salad - this was very standard. There wasn't anything special about the salad (not even an effort to chop it), and the shrimp tasted bland.
Spaghetti Bolognese - I really liked this. At first, I was apprehensive of ordering pasta at an Argentinean steakhouse, but I was pleasantly surprised. The sauce was made well and there was a perfect amount of meat in it. It doesn't look like much but don't knock until you've tried it!
Skirt steak - of the two steaks we ordered, this was the one I liked better, probably because there's no bone and I'm lazy. But they got our medium rare right to our liking, even though every restaurant apparently has their own definition of what medium rare means
Bone rib eye steak - this was great as well. The only reason why I picked the skirt steak over this one was because I had to trim fat and I hate doing that
One thing that was a tad annoying was the tipping situation. Apparently, they had included the tip with our bill, which we paid. They then came back 10 minutes later and said they had to cancel that one, redo the bill so that we add in the tip separately. The waiter said if we don't do it that way, they won't get the tip at the end of the day, which I did not understand at all. This tacked on another 10 minutes to all this bill-sorting business and it was just a bad customer experience.
Overall, the food was good. It was a reasonable price if you have a large group and decide to split everything. But if you come with a smaller group, things would add up quick. I don't mind coming back for some more of that...
Read moreThis was our first stop for dinner this past Monday night while on vacation in NYC. We were looking forward for a great Argentinian steak dinner and Buenos Aires didn't disappoint. I took my family there and from the moment we arrived they made us feel super welcomed. We were asked to sit outside because we didn't have our vaccination cards (our mistake). Sitting outside was great because it was a lovely night. We started with a melted Provolone cheese on a hot skillet and it was amazing! They also brought bread that we ate with the most delicious olive oil and balsamic vinegar! OMG it was sooooooo good. Our main meals were 2 Entrañas and 2 Bife Argentinos. They were spectacular! My Bife Argentino was cooked to perfection. It was so tender that I could have cut it with my fork. It melted in my mouth. My sons said their Entrañas were just a great. While we were eating the server and helpers were always making sure we had water and asking if there was anything else we wanted or needed. After we finished our plates we ordered dessert. We ordered a bread pudding with whipped cream and dulce de leche and OMG! It was heaven! and finally just to top off a perfect dinner we ordered coffee which is called CORTADO which of course was perfect. All and all to be honest the Bife Argentino I had was the best piece of meat I've ever had by far. I've been to many Argentinian restaurants over the years in different states and countries and this was the very best. If I could give this restaurant and their staff 100 stars I really would. Thanks so much for treating us so great and for serving such amazing food!! Next time we come to NYC we know where to come for some amazing food and...
Read moreOrdinary avoid restaurants for New Year’s Day meals given staff are usually hung over resulting in poor food and service. NOT AT Buenos Aires!
Took my mother for her birthday with my two kids and we had a great time. We ordered an Argentinian rib eye, strogonoff, Salmon, spinach and mashed potatoes with a chorizo and cheese tomato appetizer. Food was amazing. The Strogonoff was probably the weakest but only relative to everything else.
Steak was medium rare and I thought it would be stringy when cutting but it was so tender and juicy it was amazing. Steak melted in your mouth. The char was outstanding. Salmon was nicely grilled too with a nice char and still juicy inside
The cheese tomato appetizer was delicious. Chorizo was grilled perfectly and super flavorful without it being too salty like a lot of chorizo. OMG - the chimichurri sauce was soooo GOOD!
Service was old school as was the decor and we loved it. Really family feeling in the place and love it hate it, they had TVs for sports as I would imagine futbol/soccer would be a big thing but in lieu of that, the Knicks game was on! Awesome! Waiters were attentive and I think the owner or manager stepped in a bunch of times to help us.
Sweets after were delicious. Flan had this homemade whipped cream and caramel sauce and the molten chocolate souflee wasn’t really molten but it was delicious! The whipped cream actually had more flavor than the ice cream which was really fun.
Will definitely head back here next time I was a...
