I’ll give to this place one star for two reasons. first, it seems unfair to pay $20 to see three rooms with about 30 works. In a city where there are amazing museums and galleries, the 20 minutes you need to visit this place don’t justify the price. Furthermore, no explanation of the works, nor history is given, which is very disappointing. Secondly, it’s simply for environmental reasons. I cannot wrap my mind around a place that has air conditioning and heating on at the same time, in July, in New York City. It’s unethical and unacceptable given the climate change issues...
Read moreI really enjoyed the Basquiat exhibit. There were paintings on all four floors. The space is huge with high ceilings in a building that once belonged to Con Edison. I also liked the exposed brick walls inside. The gift shop was very expensive. The worst thing for me is that the elevator was extremely slow. I had to use the stairwell, which is tricky with my arthritic knees. But, it was a good way to enjoy the space and the windows, and to see the paintings from a different angle. Go see it...

The space / building is relatively small but epic. As a former substation for Con Edison (power authority) the space is wonderfully industrial with enormous ceilings.
Typically you take the elevator to the top floor and walk down.
