My fav CP location I've been to! Previous member of Hell's Kitchen and UWS studio along with some other NJ locations. In my lifetime, well over 100+ Pilates classes. LOVE the instructors here! They honestly have such a great mix of talent, I think they cater well to their clientele who are in various parts of their pilates/fitness journey. If you're new to the location here's my personal experience with some of the instructors:
Marjorie is amazing! She's great if you value Pilates fundamentals and breath-work. Alwayssssss has modifications or progressions for level 1 & 1.5 so you have flexibility every class to either go 40%-120% into your workout depending on how your body feels. Truly always enjoy her class because I know she'll have me sweating and laughing at the same time at some point. Saadiq will 100000% have you sweating and immediately sore. You may be dying mid-workout but his soothing voice helps you not question your sanity during a tough circuit lol. His level 1 and 1.5 classes are harder on average but still manageable even if you're on the newer side IMO. Taking his 1 class and breezing through it is a good way to determine if you're ready for 1.5. Alexandria always switches it up. She loves to be creative with how we use the chair, carriage, or spring board during class. I feel like I typically use the most equipment in her classes. Her warm ups and cool downs are always really thoughtful and thorough. This is one class where you will probably be doing an exercise you've never done before which makes the class go by quickly. Andrea has such calming and loving energy, her 1.5 classes are no joke and you will wake up sore the next morning. Love love love her morning classes to start the day. Chandler is so sweet and also has amazing energy. She doesn't teach too many classes at this location so I do feel like her classes book up faster, so if you can, try to book ahead cause she's definitely an instructor you should work with! I think she paces classes really well with having a good balance of tough vs. moderate movements. Eleni is an instructor I'd also suggest for Pilates beginners. I sometimes take her 1 classes because of scheduling (also big on progressions and modifications) but she really cares and wants to know if you're new because she is so big on the fundamentals. Her 1.5 classes are also great mix of moderate to challenging. IMO her playlists are pretty curated to go with the flow of the class, especially for cool down which is a nice treat. Talia is someone I just started taking more classes with because of my schedule. Another person who loves their playlists! She will have the bops, billboard top 100/beyonce/tswift/etc.. This helps when she says there's still 30 more seconds of holding a position - the singing along in my head is a great distraction when I'm shaking and want to give up lol. Her counting and talking us through her sets really is motivational
Also, s/o to front desk! They're all really nice and I do find this location to always be clean and tidy. From my experience, they've been more easy to contact via email vs. phone. I honestly never hear the phone ring during classes so maybe they keep it on silent for that reason. Alexandra, who I think might be the manager, is sooooo sweet and bubbly and also deserves the...
Read moreMy rating has nothing to do with the program or the studio. But the attitude and approach to customers.
I loved Pilates and want to get back into it after my two hip replacements. It's been almost 10 years now. Was so excited about this place which by the way is in a great location. Like earlier reviews, It is clean, and the reformers are great. I signed up for the complimentary 30 min class which I am glad I did. I discovered it will be difficult for me to follow since the lights were dimmed making it difficult to lipread the instructor. It was all audio based. Aha... unfortunately for me, even with my Otter AI, it was hard to follow. I was determined and wanted to see if there was a way to make it work. I needed more individual attention to learn the techniques so I can in the future join a class and participate and follow with less difficulty.
I know this is a business. I get it. And I got a complimentary class. They want me to join. I get it. There was no real compassion and effort coming from the staff. Wellness shouldn't be only about money. If you put yourselves in my shoes, you'd understand that it does require a lot of effort and yet, the receptionist kept indicating I need to make up my mind by 3p to take advantage of their generous discount for 3 private lessons. It was obvious to me that my becoming a part of their community is not a goal. I think the human touch was lost.
It's not easy to find a good pilates studio. What you have is great for those who...
Read moreI would be VERY careful about joining this studio. Many on the instructors on staff are not fully certified which poses a huge risk to injury. In a year of being at the studio the turn over rate is very high, if you find an instructor whom you really like- they will only be at the studio for maybe 3-5 months.
The studio management also is the biggest headache you’ll ever encounter, they tell you when signing up they are flexible and understanding if you need to cancel a class but once you join they switch that policy. Furthermore, if you have a limited schedule I would be careful, management will change the class schedule without any notice- for example a 10am class was always popular but all of a sudden they changed the class to an intro which messed up a lot of our schedules. The ownership pushed back on us when we sent emails expressing how we felt.
This does not seem to be a good place for instructors to work, discovering they pay a very low rate to instructors and treat them and the members equally...
